Really impressed with the care and thought that went into my treatment. Explained in simple terms what was going to take place, and drew some really good easy to follow diagrams! After the operation he even phoned me while he was on holiday to check that I was ok. I can only highly recommend him!

Thank you for seeing me in your clinic on 040316.whereby you gave me the results of my 2nd biopsy.I am absolutely delighted and elated to learn that everything is clear. Your kindness & caring approach throughout(pre-op,operation &post operation)has gone far greater than my expectations as a patient,NHS or Private. My thanks is extended to all of your team in particular all those who were involved & cared for me on the day of my operation.I cannot express enough how grateful i am to now be virtually pain free(gastric, stomach and liver regions). As a result my quality of life has vastly improved. I Also found it very reassuring that you offered a point of contact at all times even though i have now been fully discharged. My husband & family would also like me to express their thanks to you for what you have done for me. I wish you well and thank you so much Susan C Clarke

I first met Mr Monkhouse back in December 15 when I went for a consultation about my gallbladder. First impressions really do count & as soon as I met him, I thought that he was a nice man, he listened to my concerns and explained everything that I needed to know. Mr Monk-house told me to contact him if I had any further incidents of pain between when I saw him & my operation. My operation to remove my gallbladder was on the 05/02/16 to say I was apprehensive was an understatement, Mr Monkhouse and all of his team at the North Downs Hospital looked after me so well. I can't emphasise enough how being treated with care, understanding and compassion made such a massive difference to my experience of what was my first operation in my life. My operation was a success and my physical recovery has gone really well. I can't thank Mr Monkhouse and his team enough.

After years of pain and discomfort in my stomach I was referred to Mr Monkhouse. Following the results of investigations that he had done he diagnosed me with anti reflux and a hiatus hernia which needed surgery. Mr Monkhouse made sure I understood what was going to be done during surgery and even drew me a diagram. He booked my surgery date there and then so I left knowing when it was going to happen. On the day of my surgery Mr Monkhouse successfully performed keyhole surgery on me even though there was some complications during. He was aware how much I didn't want open surgery and went above and beyond to keep it keyhole. Once on a ward he personally visited me to explain how surgery had gone and see how I was doing. He explained what I should do now following surgery and assured me if I needed him after returning home he was only a call away . After returning home I had a few issues which Mr Monkhouse was only too pleased to help me with. I cannot express enough how grateful I am to Mr Monkhouse for finally diagnosing my condition and sorting it out. I feel so much better and my quality of life is 100 times better then it has been for years. I couldn't ask for anything to be improved as I feel I received the best treatment.

Early November 2015 I found myself travelling by Ambulance with a suspected heart attack in a lot of pain trying to be brave and thinking ah well I am in the best place . Having lost my parents and a brother to heart attacks, I thought my fate was inevitable. However, after 12 hours it was decided it was my gallbladder, phew I thought I had no idea a gallbladder attack could be that painful but what a relief! I had the extreme good fortune to be referred to the lovely Mr. Simon Monkhouse, who explained the procedure and even drew a diagram which I could clearly understand. 22nd January 2016 the day dawned, and the op was done by keyhole. I must admit, when Simon told me I would probably go home later that day, I was dubious, having had a laparscope at Humana Wellington and travelled home feeling quite unwell the same day, a few years ago, I had said at the time never again! Amazingly I came up from the operation at 1810pm, tea and toast at 1900 and walked out feeling absolutely hunky dory at 2000, in no pain whatsoever. is this a record? Simon and his team are obviously extremely practised and skilful at what they do, I felt very safe and cared for. Thankyou so much for mending me, I feel very lucky to have been one of your patients with grateful regards Christine
