i work with mr monkhouse,and he is the most considerate man.he is kind,loyal,understanding,enthustastic. if i ever needed,an opperation,it wouldbe mr monkhouse,i would want. mr monkhouse, deserves fantastic reviews,because he is such a fantastic man. i have never seen mr monkhouse,in a bad mood,and he is never late,for clinic/its actually the opposite,hes always early for clinic.

Mr Monkhouse is one of the most personable, compassionate and accessible doctors I have ever encountered. He is kind, helpful, positive, good-humoured and a consummate professional. I knew I would be in the most capable of hands soon after meeting him when admitted to hospital for suspected pancreatitis as a result of gallstones. Mr Monkhouse advised me that the removal of the gallbladder would be necessary and explained the process in detail as well as supplying me with a fact sheet. He was also very reassuring on the day of my surgery, even making an appearance just before I was anaesthetised which was genuinely appreciated given I was fairly nervous as it was my first ever operation. I had nothing to worry about. The operation was a complete success. My recovery was very straightforward and quick. I am now fully recovered bearing very little evidence of having had surgery - a testament to his surgical skills! As well as successfully removing my inflamed gallbladder, he removed a rather large lipoma from my abdominal wall, also leaving minimal scarring. Be assured that if Mr Monkhouse is your surgeon, you will undoubtedly be in very good hands. He goes above and beyond what is normally expected of a healthcare professional, even telling me that I could contact him whilst he was on holiday. He is clearly very passionate about the job he does. He was constantly in contact and available prior and post surgery and instills a great deal of confidence at a time that can be very worrying and unsettling. I would recommend him to anyone who might need similar surgical procedures. Excellent overall experience and highly impressive care. I attended Simon's clinic for a consultation regarding gallstones following a scan. From the start it was obvious he was thorough and attentive as he knew from my notes I had suffered for 15 years with bad acid reflux. (I have had cases in the past where my notes are being read as I walk into the room, so from the start I was sure that he had my best interests at heart and was very keen to help improve my symptoms). Having reassured me that he could help with my gallstones, he then said he could take my case for curing my reflux. He explained in terms I could understand that I would need a series of test and took me through the procedure, drawing diagrams to ensure I understood fully how my case would move forward. During each of these steps under Simon's care, he contacted me or visited me on the ward to ensure I was happy and informed about what was happening. He provided me with a mobile number and email address should I require further information or reassurance. I did use these methods of contact and always received prompt, reassuring responses. A year after my initial anti-reflux procedure I had some issues with recurrent heartburn. Having seen Simon in clinic, he explained that I would need a further surgery that had its risks, but he was willing to help. Never once did he gloss over facts. He was honest about the dangers but also very reassuring in that he would not put me under any unnecessary risk. Now, just over a month after revisional surgery I am fighting fit (with minimal scarring due to the laparoscopic approach) and have never felt better. Simon is the greatest doctor I have ever had the pleasure to meet. I am very sure I will never meet another doctor like him. For a start he is personable (he introduces himself as Simon, not Mr/Dr Monkhouse), he is thorough, attentive and really kind. Simon is proof that it's not just about what you know, it is about compassion and empathy and he has that by the bucket load. I would not hesitate to recommend Simon and his team to anyone.

I had the pleasure of being treated by Simon when I was diagnosed as having gallstones. From the first moment I met him at my consultation he was very professional, explained everything clearly, incredibly helpful, put my health first and went beyond the call of duty from start to finish. (He really did!!!!!) My surgery was also carried out by Simon which was a success and I made a full recovery all thanks to him. His communication was first class and answered all my queries and questions I had, Simon is by far the most dedicated professional I have ever met and the most efficient person I have ever come across. You are a credit to the medical industry, please keep up the outstanding care and work you give.

My name is Fred Hart. I attended A&E at East Surrey Hospital at about 2am on 14 June 2015, with severe upper abdominal pain. It was diagnosed as Biliary colic and Gall stones after an ultrasound scan and that I would require an operation to remove the stones. As I was an emergency admission, the operation could only be carried out if a gap appeared in the operating schedule. The operation was carried out on 19 June using keyhole surgery and was very successful. During his rounds the next day, Mr Monkhouse introduced himself to me and told me that he had carried out the surgery and that the gall bladder was very infected and enlarged and had had to be removed. He answered all my questions honestly and clearly and I found his pleasant manner very re-assuring. Since leaving hospital, I have recovered completely and the scars are healed and I fell in great health. I have nothing but praise for Mr Monkhouse's compassion and surgical skills and would highly recommend him to my family and friends.
