I was admitted into Manchester Royal Infirmary having been diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis, I had suffered a major flare up which resulted in me having surgery. I met Mr Stylianides who performed my surgery and prior to the operation he came to see me to explain the procedure. He is calm, pleasant and more importantly took the time to listen to my concerns, which reassured me that he cared and I could trust him. He explained everything I needed to know, answered all my questions and put my mind at ease knowing he would perform the procedure. After the operation he regularly checked on me and my progress, as I had some complications post op but he took the time to review and resolve them. I found Mr Stylianides to be polite, approachable and a true health professional and I would not hesitate to recommend him. Furthermore the care I received from the nursing staff and doctors at MRI was fantastic and will always be grateful to them all. Regards Miss S Rafiq

Mr. Stylianides was everything you could wish for in a surgeon. It was my first time being operated on or even in hospital, so the whole experience was pretty distressing - but I was constantly comforted by him. He was always very clear in explaining any issues or what was happening, listened to my questions carefully and answered them fully. The junior doctor working with him - Anna - was also lovely and a very hard-working, knowledgeable point of contact for me. Both were also very good with my parents, calming their worries and letting them know how they could best look after me post-operation. In summary, outstanding care and attention. If I was to be operated on again, I wouldn't want it to be anyone else.

Absolutely fantastic Surgeon. Well, I use the word 'Surgeon' despite never actually having gone under his knife...Indeed, I had a 'problem' that had been worrying and troubling me for a long time so I eventually listened to a colleague - who had recommended Mr Stylianides - and visited him. Mr Stylianides listened intently to my concerns, (rather than talk over/down to you like some surgeons have a tendency to do) and together we decided the best course of action. To cut a long story short my concerns were unfounded & my results were nothing to be concerned about but I now have peace of mind that all is good. During the initial consultation, the follow up scan s and the final consultation Mr Stylianides was an absolute Gent. A true professional. I would not hesitate to recommend this chap to anybody who may have medical concerns. Finally, I must add that the service from the team at Alexandra Hospital, Cheadle was also fantastic.

The first time I met Mr Stylianides I instantly knew I was in great hands. Having met a lot of doctors over my time, I could tell straight away that he was worth listening to. He has one of those demeanours that made me feel at ease and the way he spoke made y me aware that I could trust what he was saying. He was kind, calm, and thoroughly explained everything I needed to know. He also listened to what I had to say and he took his time with me instead of rushing off to see his next patient. I completely felt at ease knowing that he was going to be performing my surgery. The surgery went really well and there have been no issues at all. After my surgery he regularly checked in on me to see how I was coping. When it came to being discharged, he listened to my opinions and let me decide whether I should be discharged or not, because he knew that I wouldn't leave unless I felt safe and ready to. He is a very friendly, caring, knowledgeable man and I can't recommend him highly enough.
