It is now just over a year since my second hip replacement, Mr Kumar was my surgeon four years ago for the first operation and he kindly agreed to take care of me for a second time and carry out a full hip replacement on my other leg. One year later following a final consultation I have been discharged from his care. I now feel refreshed, my hips cause no pain, my legs feel decades younger. From my first meeting with Mr Kumar his friendly manner together with willingness to fully explain all aspects of the operations, and provide thorough aftercare consultations, left me in no doubt that I could not have found a better surgeon. I have no hesitation in recommending him and would approach him should I need further surgery.

I am a 79 year old cyclist with a passion for cycling and my ambition is to win a World Championship medal on the Velodrome in my age group which was going to be held in Manchester in 2023. Unfortunately I have had osteoarthritis in both knees for some time and since 2019 I have had a number of Steroid injections but with mixed success. The right knee responded well and allthough the Osteoartritis is at an advanced stage I can still ride at a high level of performance wihout pain. My left knee however let me down badly in April 2023 during trials for the World championship and I was unable to push on the pedals or climb stairs so I started to look for a better solution. A fellow cyclist directed me to an advance Gell type Injection which sounded interesting and I found the details online and made an appointment with a Mr Kumar at a Prime Health Hospital in May 2023. It was an interesting meeting, Mr Kumar listened to my background and my ambition and somewhat to my surprise he did not tell me I was foolish to be riding a bike at 78. We agreed that I should have an injection as a temporary measure but more importantly he set up dates for XRAYS and Scans. The injection eased the pain a little but not for long. I returned shortly after to discuss the EXRAYS and Mr Kumar explained the problem that was clearly obvious and that I needed a knee replacement. I asked if there was an advanced form of Injection that would get me through to the Championship in September , but allthough he had researched the possibility he thought it would be a waste of my money. It was at that stage that I decided to go for a full knee replacement as soon as possible and plan to be fully recovered by the middle of 2024 in time for the World Champioship which will take place in September 2024. Mr Kumar introduced me to the MAKO ROBOTIC REPLACEMENT procedure and we agreed it would be an excellent solution to my very specific and demanding objectives. The Surgery took place on August 11th at at the Spire Hospital in Manchester. The Hospital and its Staff are excellent and I left the Hospital on the 13th with a new knee. The teams concern with pain management was total, the Senior nurse told me that it was best to prevent pain rather than relieve it and provided me with a package of medication and excersise plans to last me two weeks at which stage I would return to have the stitches removed. I can honestly say that any pain was minimal and I didn't lose any sleep. My recovery with the support of Mr Kumar the pysio and the Nurses has exceeded all my expectations. I was walking to church without crutches after two weeks, riding a static bike after four weeks , my knee flex improved rapidly with excercise and I was riding on the indoor Velodrome after twelve weeks . I saw Mr Kumar a few weeks ago, some six months after the Surgery and I think even he was a little surprised and gave me clearance to start full training again and I am now training five days a week and resting two days and have maintained the excercise regime. I would like to thank Mr Kumar and his Staff for listening to me and my objectives and recommend them and the MAKO ROBOTIC procedure for anyone who wants or needs a truly exceptional solution.

I have been under the care of Mr Amit Kumar for several years now for my osteoarthritis problems. In 2018 he replaced my right Knee, in 2020 he replaced my left hip and in March 2023 he has replaced my right hip. He has actually given me a new lease of life. He is such a lovely, approachable man who does actually listen to you and explains everything very clearly and precisely so you understand each stage of your progression. I would highly recommend him and personally I wouldn't want to be under the care of anyone else.
