A very caring consultant, made sure he explained everything fully and both he and Springfield hospital were very understanding and efficient and comfortable during my stay for a total knee replacement. Ten weeks post operation and I am able to return to playing golf and going walking with friends. Driving my car and going up and downstairs is no problem. Exercise is key, I think for recovery and I will continue exercising and walking for the next few months at least.

Dr Shankar was recommended to me by my GP following several years of physio under the NHS for the arthritus in my right hip. I had a total hip replacement (self financed) undertaken by Dr Shankar at Spires Hartswood Hospital and can confirm that in all my dealings with both the hospital and Dr Shankar my treatment has been first class. All details concerning the operation were fully explained to me by Dr Shankar including any possible set backs that could occur, but thankfully did not. My operation was undertaken on 18 May 2021 as a computer navigated Metha total hip replacement and I have not looked back since then. Since the operation and my returning home to recuperate I have not had any pain or infection, the physio sessions at Hartswood were extremely helpful and I am now back to my normal routine of swimming each morning and going to the gym 5 days a week. I would thoroughly recommend Dr Shankar and all his team.

I was referred by my GP to have an x-ray as I was experiencing a lot of discomfort in my hips and the MRI results showed I had osteoarthritis in my hips and back. However, four years later after having an operation on one hip, for the other, I was referred to and contacted by Mr Shankar at King George's Hospital regarding the other. He advised, I required a hip replacement, he explained due to Covid there may be a delay for the operation. Fortunately, there was a small delay and as soon as operations were allowed to continued at the hospital I was informed of the date and time and the procedure was carried out. After the surgery, during my recovery which involved a telephoned consultation due to Covid as well as a follow up appointment at the hospital Mr Shankar explained in detail the procedure he preformed and the difference between the two. Even though I have had my other hip replaced this one felt different. Mr Shankar has been very professional he took the time to put my mind at ease and explained the situation to my level of understanding and answered my questions. I am very pleased with my operation, recovery and as a result I am feeling much better and now able to return to normal activities, enjoy long walking exercises and going back to work. Thank you, Mr Shankar for your expertise, for improving my quality of life, showing compassion, caring and being resentful. Furthermore, I was a little hesitant because of Covid about undergoing my procedure at the hospital but all went well because of the procedures, checks and precautions in place. As a result, the team as a whole at the hospital were fantastic from the minute I came into the hospital, showing care, respect, I felt safe and I am extremely grateful. Mrs G.

After being referred by my GP to see Mr Shankar re pain in my left knee, I was sent for MRI scan which revealed I had torn meniscus, I was then contacted by Mr Shankar who advised I would require minor key hole surgery , knee arthroscopy to smooth out the meniscus, because of Covid situation, the proposed date of surgery was delayed but as soon as this gs started to open up I was contacted and advise a date for Mr Shankar to proceed with the procedure, since all has been done, the pain has diminished and nearly full movement of my knee has been regained, before, during and after my procedure Mr Shankar has explained fully what would be and has been done and always felt comfortable with the treatment received, thank you Mr Shankar to you and your team for the help and treatment received, regards Dave Ambler
