First impression of Mr Ben Spiegelberg was youthful energy, enthusiasm, cheerfulness and simultaneously of mature competence, confidence and experience.
The letters after his name confirmed this confidence!
My confidence on meeting for initial diagnosis led me to ask for him and only him to complete left hip operation. Operation after effects were successful as predicted, as were recent consultations.

I trusted Doctor Spigelberg immediately on meeting - he had an assured but empathetic ,confident way about him. Covid delayed my operation but i went in on Nov20 with some fear from the google reviews about a hip replacement. I am absolutely overwhelmed at the magic that Dr Spiegelberg and his team have made happen - I had almost no pain from the operation or immediately after; was able to leave hospital after 2 days; abandoned my crutches after 5 days and other than a tiny infection in my wound which a GP nurse quickly addressed this has been an unbelievably positive experience. I am now sleeping like a log walking back up to 10K steps a day and carefully trying out jogs on a running machine..my kids and friends have all noticed my 'gangster walk'/limp has disappeared - I feel I have been given back 10 years of my life. Honestly I cannot recommend Dr Spiegelberg enough and would like to say to anyone feeling frightened as I was, please do not hesitate, this really is a life changing operation if handled by the right consultant and his team. I am truly thrilled to be completely mobile so quickly and able to be there in every way for my partner, kids and friends so soon after the operation. Thank you Dr Spiegelberg and all the team involved - I dont have the right words to thank you enough.

Mr Spiegelberg performed a partial knee replacement for me in November. This was after I had been under his care for arthritis for 3 years. Initially I was reluctant to undergo the surgery but the quality of the treatment I had received previously gave me confidence in his advice.
Mr Spiegelberg was very reassuring before, during and after the procedure.
I'm now 6/7 weeks post op and it has been successful, I'm walking better than any time in the last 5 years and will only be happier when I get the other one done too.

I cannot speak too highly of this doctor who carried out a full hip replacement. He is obviously experienced and knowledgeable, and also kind and caring, wishing to do everything possible to have the best possible outcome and making the patient feel confident and important including through periods subsequent to the hospital stay. I do not think the treatment I had from him could have been improved, and I would certainly recommend him.

Mr. Ben Spiegelberg is a consultant orthopaedic surgeon who specialises in adult hip and knee surgery. He underwent specialist training at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, Stanmore and subsequent Specialist Registrar training on the Oxford registrar rotation centred at Oxford University. He spent a year in Canada on the internationally renowned University of Western Ontario Adult Reconstruction Fellowship program prior to being appointed Consultant at West Hertfordshire Hospitals NHS Trust.
Mr Spiegelberg sees and treats many orthopaedic conditions and fractures. His sub-specialty interests are hip and knee surgery, including knee and hip replacement, partial knee replacement, arthroscopy (keyhole surgery), cartilage transplantation and revision (redo) joint replacements.
