Surgical Haemorhoidetormy, for external Haemorhoids. I have had these for many years and they did make it difficult with regards to hygiene, and could be uncomfortable. I consulted my doctor and she felt they should be removed but it would take many years if I went through the NHS. I decided to go private and just get the operation done. I was very nervous as had heard it was a painful procedure.
I now wish I had decided to do this years ago. Mr Gupta was extremely professional and agreed with my doctor that life would be much improved after the operation.
I was given painkillers after the operation however, I did not have to take them after the second day, it was uncomfortable and you would not want to sit on a hard surface, but it was really not as painful as I had expected it to be.
I returned to work after 3 days but I did take it easy for the first week, I cannot say I had any great pain just tender.
I cannot thank Mr Gupta enough for the excellent job he did, it has made such a great difference to my life .

I had done some research and read a few review on Mr Ashish Gupta and very pleased he was my surgeon. He recently gave me an open mesh repair of inguinal hernia. The team at st Anthony's hospital we very warm and professional. My Gupta completed the procedure in 1 hour and I was home the following day. The was surprised with the lack of swelling and I only took pain meds for 2.5 days following the procedure. I just had my one month follow up and I am cleared to start exercising again and the area no longer feels 'weak' when I cough. Very pleased with Mr Gupta's expertise and would highly recommend him.

On 6th September I had a HALO and RAR operation for the treatment of large bulky haemorrhoids that had troubled me for a number of years. Mr. Gupta carefully explained what would be involved and the possible side effects and also took great care to warn me that it could be extremely painful and uncomfortable for a couple of weeks afterwards. In the event the operation was a great success and whilst house bound and sore for ten days after this there has been no further recurrence of the original problem. Mr Gupta was always thorough and conscientious and always made you feel that you would receive excellent care with him.

Thank you. Just for those who aren’t aware and to explain a bit further about different modalities for haemorrhoid surgery - HALO is a Doppler guided suture ligation of vessels supplying the haemorrhoids ( Haemorrhoidal Artery Ligation Operation) and RAR is Recto Anal Repair. This technique is quite effective in treating prolapsing haemorrhoids which are internal and cause bleeding. There is no cut involved but I must emphasise that depending onthe size and bill of haemorrhoids a lot of sutures may need to be taken and this can cause significant pain postoperatively. Hence although some people advertise HALO operation to be pain free, I must say that for the most benefits to achieve RAR is often combined and hence the pain ….
