The excellent were spot on treated really well. My room was on the small side but comfortable , the only complaint for a private room the bathroom smelt of drains and the the toilet flush was not working properly. But over all a good stay. Fred.Finch.

I am writing anonymously to raise serious concerns about the conduct and professionalism of staff on M2 Ward at St Helier Hospital, particularly in the early hours of the morning. Staff were overheard speaking inappropriately about parents and support workers, using unprofessional language, and making comments that appeared discriminatory. Support workers were mocked, refused a suitable place to sit, and one was wrongly accused of sleeping during a waking-night shift. A child with mental health difficulties was also made to wait over four hours before being admitted, and staff did not seem to understand or follow the child’s care documentation. There were also inappropriate questions about confidential information. These incidents show a worrying lack of respect, understanding, and safeguarding awareness. I hope this is investigated urgently to ensure children, families, and support staff are treated with dignity and care in the future.

Epsom Hospital I found myself in the hospital on Monday afternoon, October 20, 2025, in the emergency department. I spent over 12 hours there, undergoing various levels of examination and diagnosis. 12 hours because I had around 30 patients with me, new ones were constantly arriving, there was constant turnover, ambulances were bringing people from accidents, police were bringing people in handcuffs requiring medical attention. Instead of one sent home or to the hospital ward, two more arrived. It was a real front line. Finally, I was transferred to the endoscopy department—I don't know if that's the right name—but that's where this procedure is performed. After the endoscopy, I was transferred to the Swift Hospital ward. I stayed there until Friday afternoon. On the way, I visited the endoscopy department again for another procedure. Now I'm home and trying to recover—a sudden breakdown in my health, a rather long hospital stay—two rather unpleasant tests and blood transfusion have shaken my perception of reality. In a matter of hours, I went from a strong and confident person to a weak and frightened hospital patient with no idea what was happening to his body. I've calmed down enough to share my experience at Epsom Hospital. My experience has been absolutely wonderful – I'm impressed by the professionalism, kindness, and calm of the staff who handled my case. Starting with the lady at the reception desk who took down my registration details, and ending with the nurse who patiently explained how to take the medications I received and what was on the paperwork I received when I left the hospital. The kind lady handling patient transport who brought me my lost charger from the emergency department. The wonderful doctors who patiently explained the various stages of treatment and diagnosis. So many people, so many faces and names – it's impossible to remember. It's impossible to list them all. The cleaning people, the lady serving meals, the nursing assistants. A nurse with a warm smile, asking if I was okay. Explaining what would happen during the procedure and reassuring me that everything would be fine. The doctors performing the procedures and the nurses preparing you for the procedure – a smile, a calmness on their faces, it was clear they knew what they were doing. A joke, a short conversation, filling out a form, a handshake, and a pat on the back, and in a short time, it was all over. Examined, checked, patted on the back and sent to the ward. The nurses on the Swift ward, dispensing medications, taking blood pressure measurements, drawing blood, connecting and disconnecting an drips. As they finished one round, they started another. Medications, tests, drips, and so on, sometimes interrupted by the irritating sound of an alarm bell. A real grind. On top of that, the paperwork, or rather, computer work, was a nightmare. What you did must be documented, entered, and checked. And me - Could I have an extra blanket, please? I'm cold—"no problem, of course." Could I have new pajamas because i make this one dirty—"please give me a little time. I'll finish what I'm doing and bring them." I come back from the bathroom and my pajamas are waiting on the bed. Could I have extra sugar, tea without milk, or maybe hot chocolate? Could I have a sandwich instead of toast? And hundreds of other little things, all given to me without a fuss and with a smile. From people who were actually busy with much more important things. All the staff were characterized above all by calm, professionalism, and patience. A smile on their faces and efficient operation. They worked together like cogs in a well-oiled and highly efficient machine. They supported and complemented each other. Once again, calm, patience, and professionalism, and faces that had seen everything, or almost everything. Incredible. I want to say thank you so much. Thank you so much, because what else can I say? No words can fully express what I experienced and what was done for me. One thing is very clear to me now: don't disturb these people, stay calm and trust them. Give them a chance, and they will do everything possible to help and save you. Remember how difficult and responsible their work is. Understand that the nurse walking slowly down the hall isn't strolling around thinking about blue almonds. Her thoughts are focused on work, she mentally checks once again all the steps she has taken and those she still needs to take. She's overwhelmed with responsibility, carrying the suffering, fears, and anxieties of her patients on her shoulders. Give her a chance, let her act, and help if you can. She's a person who wants to help you. Thank you.

Excellent care, absolutely amazing nurses who really give the patient confidence with the care received. Both helpful and cheerful nurses who greatly help the patient in preparation and recovery for whatever care provided. Clean wards and most excellent all round care.

The hospital and staff are great. Truly lovely. The one thing that let's the hospital down is the experience of using the hospital pharmacy. This is where my answers to the above questions completely change. I would not recommend for anyone to use this hospital pharmacy if they can possibly avoid it. Not if they value their time, their self-worth or their sanity. From what I have experienced and witnessed, the pharmacy treats no-one with dignity or respect. This includes the elderly, people with obvious injuries and disabilities, mothers with children, and heavily pregnant ladies. They all line the corridor waiting for their prescriptions. You queue once to hand in your prescription and join the long queue again once you've been notified that it's ready to collect. Even when your turn comes to collect your prescription you are often told that it can't be found, so you wait even longer till the mystery of the missing prescription can be solved, often by the most dismissive and rude people you have ever the misfortune to meet while you're ill and in pain. Even calling the pharmacy to check that a prescription has been received from the doctor can be as bad. The phone will often go unanswered. Even when picked up by a member of the pharmacy staff who seem to very hostile once they do pick up, you can be left waiting for them to tell you if your prescription is even there till the call cuts out, or they just cut the call without giving you an answer. Even when you can get through and receive a verbal confirmation that your prescription has been received, has been processed and is ready to collect, there is still a long queue and the possibility that they can't find your prescription when your turn comes. This creates a queue that obstructs the corridor to the main entrance to the hospital. This is a clear visual signal for any hospital managers that acts as a subtle metaphor for the misery created by the pharmacy. Zero stars for the pharmacy. The one exception seems to be Omar. He was very helpful on my most recent visit and visibly fought against a clearly dysfunctional system which failed to track the prescription through the process and had to be manually hunted down.

Epsom Hospital has provided excellent care and support for me over recent years. The stoma nurse team see me regularly and are kind, attentive and reassuring. When having surgery at the hospital, the team were exceptional and the after care on HDU and Swift Ward was of the highest standard. Nothing seemed too much trouble and they were unfailingly positive in their approach.

I recently had a major surgery carried out at Epsom General Hospital and I spent 10 days in recovery there. The hospital was clean and well equipped and the staff I encountered were professional and friendly. I appreciate the care I was given.
