His private practice is mainly based at St Anthony Hospital in Cheam and Ashtead Hospital. His main areas of interests include haemorrhoids, rectal bleeding or pain, colonoscopy, polyp removal, bowel surgery including key hole surgery for bowel cancer, diverticular disease and inflammatory bowel disease like Crohn’s disease. He also performs General Surgery like hernia repair, and acute cases like appendicitis. Mr Gupta is a member of Association of ColoProctology of Great Britain and Ireland (ACPGBI). He is regarded highly for his low complication rates and high level of patient satisfaction.
I met Mr Gupta at Epsom General Hospital for the first time on the 5th March 2026 following a number of tests and procedures that found me sat in front of him and some from his team. It had been an extremely traumatic couple of months with testing and ultimately worry due to the uncertainty of my situation. I have given Mr Gupta 5 stars across the board. In simple terms he put me at ease with a style, diplomacy and level of care that I appreciated and valued. From the moment I met him I felt like there was not a single stone unturned. The contact from his team and himself was constant and things moved pretty fast. I had my operation on Friday 17th April and it was a long op and a very long day for Mr Gupta and his team. God only knows what time they must have all got home on the Friday evening. And this is the important point. Dedication. On the following Saturday afternoon I had a personal visit from Mr Gupta whist I was in recovery within the High Dependency Unit. He again visited me on the Sunday. Dedication and care at its very best. Following the success of my operation I was subsequently discharged by Mr Gupta. I feel very, very fortunate and lucky to have been treated by Mr Gupta.

I highly recommend Dr. Ashish Gupta and his entire team. After suffering from chronic abdominal discomfort for three years and consulting with several other surgeons, I finally found the help I needed with Dr. Gupta. From the first consultation, he was incredibly patient, took the time to listen to my concerns, and clearly explained the laparoscopic adhesiolysis procedure. I underwent surgery on February 9, 2026, and the relief has been life-changing. I am deeply grateful for his expertise and the professional care I received. Shankar

A kind caring doctor who has the ability to explain everything in a clear, concise fashion. Listens to his patients concerns and requests at all times. Mr Gupta has the ability to calm the most anxious patient (and I should know!). Bedside manner 10/10

Having spent 22 hours in St Helier A&E in great abdominal pain, I was reassured when Mr Gupta arrived at my bedside to say he was operating immediately. Within 15 minutes I was in the operating theatre. I previously met Mr Gupta 3 years ago when he performed an elective colostomy. He gave me confidence that I was in safe hands on both occasions. I was extremely well looked after and was grateful that he was on call when I needed expert care. Thank you Mr Gupta.

I was recommended to contact Mr. Gupta to get advice regarding a Hernia that had developed very quickly. I did so with a call to his secretary and from the moment she answered I felt comfortable, relaxed and easy. The initial appointment with him was arranged speedily and in a very 'easy to talk' environment. An inguinal hernia and small aneurysm were diagnosed and an operation date for an open mesh repair was arranged with St Anthony's Hospital. Mr Gupta was there to talk pre-op and after recovery which helped me relax and explaining in simple terms what I should expect for the next month. Finally, after 4 weeks he was there again to assess progress. Thank you

From initial consultation thru being discharged, Mr Gupta provided great care, service and is clearly an expert in his field. I had two open Hernia Operations (Inguinal and Umbilical) with Mr Gupta and they have healed very well.

I would like to take this opportunity to comment on the excellent care I have received over the past three years form Mr Ashish Gupta, Laparoscopic General and Correctal Surgeon, and his team. In the summer of 2022 I had to receive emergency surgery which resulted in the removal of my colon and cancer-related investigations. The care, professionalism and expertise of Mr Gupta and his colleagues were outstanding. At what were often very challenging times, I was made to feel like I was their only patient by the way they took an interest in me personally and guided me with wise advice regarding the best way forward. They were clearly a well-led and much valued team. I always felt listened-to and a relationship of mutual trust quickly developed. Over the past three years, careful monitoring led to a key decision being made to undertake complex follow-up surgery. I felt very well informed and prepared and appreciated that urology specialists were also asked to be involved. The surgery itself was lengthy and required considerable aftercare in Epsom hospital during the recovery period. This was excellent in every way. I was supported very much as an individual. This week, when I met Mr Gupta to ‘sign off’, it seemed like the end of a journey together where his evident pride and pleasure with how successfully matters had progressed matched my own delight with how much better I felt and how confidently I could look ahead to the future. Thank you!

Mr Gupta is an amazing specialist and highly recommended. He has totally resolved my anus pain issues which were extreme by removing polyps, anal skin tags and treating fissures/haemorroids He listened to my issues from the first appointment and despite the pain after the surgery for 4 weeks, I am now pain free with no issues at all. I should say that prior to the surgery the pain was also extreme where even sitting was uncomfortable and was affecting my daily life. I will be forever grateful to Mr Gupta for what he has done to resolve my pain issues.

Mr Gupta treated me for an inguinal hernia recently, carrying out an open mesh repair at Ashtead Hospital. He was professional, friendly and reassuring throughout, answering all my questions and giving me great confidence that I was in safe hands. Before and after the surgery, on the day itself, he visited to check that I was ok and feeling comfortable. His follow-up consultation five weeks after the surgery was thorough.
