Mr Patel was very polite and understanding - explained what was going to happen to me and marked the area to get it right. Made a very need job of the incision and glued it together so that it heals neatly. Mr Patel visited me twice outside of consultants rounds to enquire about my condition which was very caring and much appreciated.

Fantastic service and care provided - a shock to be so quickly with appendicitis but the process and procedures followed were amazing and very informative at each stage. Was definitely put at ease with the knowledge and care provided by Mr Patel.

My clinical interests are in minimally invasive (robotic and laparoscopic) surgery for colorectal cancer and benign conditions such as inflammatory bowel disease and diverticulosis. I also specialise in treatments for perianal conditions such as haemorrhoids, anal fistula and anal fissure, as well as general surgical conditions such as hernia.

I graduated from St George’s University of London in 2000. I completed my specialist surgical training in the North West London Deanery. This was followed by two fellowships at St Mark’s Hospital London and the London Colorectal Fellowship (Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospital and University College Hospital).

In addition to my clinical work, I have wide research interests which have been established through my MSc in surgical science and a PhD both attained from Imperial College London. My research focuses on collaboration, leadership and mentoring in healthcare, which has culminated in numerous peer-reviewed publications in a broad range of surgical disciplines and international and national conference presentations.

I currently work as a consultant colorectal and general surgeon at Watford General Hospital and Spire Bushey Hospital.
