A really lovely, honest, friendly, knowledgable doctor. If I had to go through all this again I would desperately want Mr Patel to be a part of the team. He has been amazing. Thank you!

Mr Patel was very polite and professional and caring when I attended Watford a&e with abdominal pain. He examined me with care and organised tests for me to get a diagnosis quickly. He was kind and helpful and answered all my questions and I would highly recommend him.

Vanash has an excellent manner in dealing with people, making them feel at ease and confident in his ability. I would thoroughly recommend him and I found him a breathe of fresh air compared to other doctors

Profile

Consultant General and Colorectal Surgeon,
Honorary Clinical Research Fellow Imperial College London,
MB BS, MSc, PhD DIC, FRCS (Gen Surg).

My clinical interests are in minimally invasive (robotic and laparoscopic) surgery for colorectal cancer and benign conditions such as inflammatory bowel disease and diverticulosis. I also specialise in treatments for perianal conditions such as haemorrhoids, anal fistula and anal fissure, as well as general surgical conditions such as hernia.

I graduated from St George’s University of London in 2000. I completed my specialist surgical training in the North West London Deanery. This was followed by two fellowships at St Mark’s Hospital London and the London Colorectal Fellowship (Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospital and University College Hospital).

In addition to my clinical work, I have wide research interests which have been established through my MSc in surgical science and a PhD both attained from Imperial College London. My research focuses on collaboration, leadership and mentoring in healthcare, which has culminated in numerous peer-reviewed publications in a broad range of surgical disciplines and international and national conference presentations.

I currently work as a consultant colorectal and general surgeon at Watford General Hospital and Spire Bushey Hospital.
