After an emergency admittance to Coventry University Hospital, Mr Westerman carried out a very difficult hip replacement. I had a hip resurface on the same hip 15 yrs previously which was in poor state with a bug infection which was eating the hip bone away. I can not speak highly enough of my treatment during my 3 weeks in hospital. All aspects of my operation were explain fully with all of my worries and concerns addressed in a way I could understand. All of my follow up checks were up to the same fine standards. Thank you Mr Westerman and all of your team for there professionalism and care.

Mr Westerman and his team at both UHCW and St Cross were fantastic! I couldn't of wished for a better surgeon and nursing staff. I had total right hip replacement on 03/06/2019 after 12 months of agonising pain and discomfort. I am so grateful and now 100% pain free. I was in hospital for 2 days. 3 hours after surgery the physio got me out of bed and standing. I had an epidural rather than a general anaesthetic and i would recommend this to everybody. I was naturally worried before the operation, as it was the first operation I had had. However the theatre team were so comforting and i felt relaxed and at ease. The oesteoarthritis pain went immediately after the operation and i have recovered extremely fast. I believe that having the epidural helped me to recover quickly and return home within2 days. By listening to the staff about the operation and attending the hip class, I had the correct knowledge beforehand. This has enabled me to take care of myself and my new joint. And finally the physio is very important afterwards, and will give you back the freedom you once had prior to the gruelling pain of oesteoarthritis.

Mr Westerman simply and clearly explained the cause and correction process for my hip condition. Ample information was made available to allay any fears of the replacement operation. His personable manner and empathy with the situation helps greatly to relax and ease concerns over what would have to happen. I could not ask for a better surgeon to carry out this type of operation. On the day the clinical staff were fantastic I was made comfortable and at no time was in any pain. Post op apart from expected aching/soreness the wound and hip were not a problem and I was up and walking the same day. I have no concerns regarding my experience that would prevent me from having the other hip operated on by Mr Westerman and at the BMI.

I had a total hip replacement in March aged 48, I had put off going to see anyone and suffered with the pain for a very long time. I had also never had an operation so was a bit apprehensive. Mr Westerman was fantastic, has a wonderful manner and makes you feel confident and at ease. I came away from my appointment almost excited as I knew after my consultation with him, it would change my life. I was awake but sedated during my operation and can highly recommend it.. I can honestly say it has changed my life and I can live it as a 48 year old should..

Mr Westerman carried out a total replacement on my right knee just over 6 weeks ago - Himself and his whole team including the physiotherapy staff are top quality and professional in preparation and care - There were no real surprises as I was fully made aware of each stage and what to expect. Although not the nicest operation to experience, a little pain for gain, in my opinion, is well worth it, particularly in my case as the joint was well worn. Now thanks to him and his team I am well on the way to recovery and am now walking up to 3 miles a day
