Mr Mateen Arastu - a patient’s review Patient profile: Seventy-two-year-old male in good health and still working as college lecturer. After considerable long-term chronic pain in left hip joint, diagnosed as severe osteoarthritis, the patient sought elective surgery for total hip replacement. Patient experience of Mr Arastu’s professional skills were clearly evidenced by an effective THR operation in the summer of 2015. This has proved to be a complete success in that as the patient, I am no longer troubled by pain in my left hip and operated leg. Mr Arastu’s skills and demeanour in relation to patient relationship: From the very first pre-operative consultation, through to the operation per se, and several post-operative consultations, Mr Arastu has demonstrated exemplary care, empathy, sensitiveness and professionalism. He has been supportive, business-like and ready to respond at short notice to further relevant patient needs, such as impromptu consultations between timetabled appointments. In short, Mr Arastu is prepared to go the extra mile in patient care and I have no hesitation in recommending Mr Mateen Arastu to other patients who require his specific medical skills. It has been a privilege to have been his patient.
