For a number of years I have suffered from Dupuytren's contracture of the little finger of my right hand. In 2019 I was accepted as part of a trial for a collagen injection to address the condition. Initially this procedure carried out in November 2019 was very successful, but gradually and then rather suddenly the condition returned. In September 2022 Mr Goon reviewed my condition and decided that a dermofasciectomy was required. By this time the finger was so severely bent that I was concerned that it would not be possible to correct the contracture. I need not have worried. In November 2022 Mr Goon performed the surgery at the Lister Hospital under an arm block anaesthetic. I was at ease during the two hour procedure and I could hear Mr Goon describing the work and passing on his knowledge and experience to his junior colleague. Afterwards some of the stitching of the skin graft was undertaken by the colleague and the whole team did an excellent job. Within a couple of weeks of the procedure I had good use of the finger and after a few more weeks the function of the finger was back to normal. I have complete flexibilty of the finger which is completely straight. Moreover contrary to what I had expected the finger after five months shows hardly any sign of the surgery. Nobody in everyday circumstances would notice that the finger had been operated on. This was fantastic treatment from Mr Goon and his team and I am deeply grateful to them for this outstanding work under the NHS at the Lister Hospital.
I am happy to express my inner feeling after receiving the treatment from Lister Hospital.
After several years of going back and forth with my GP and various referrals relating to the lower part of my right arm, I was finally sent to Dr Goon for a trapped nerve in my right elbow.
Now I have relief from constant pain and discomfort. For this, I thank Dr Goon and his team. The courtesy, care and kindness they showed; I feel I cannot thank them enough.
After an akward fall I unfortunately tore the ligament from my thumb on my right hand, and I'm a right handed engineer, so was obviously very concerned. Within 5 minutes of meeting Mr Goon and his initial assessment of my injury I felt happy and confident I was in very capable hands (no pun intended). He put me at ease and was proven to be correct about my injury, and more importantly, he fixed it completely, it's now a few years on and I have no issues and full mobility on what could of been a permanent injury. Many thanks Mr Goon and the physio and plastics team at lister.
Very impressed by a fellow medical professional. Thoughtful, careful and sensible. I would go back to him without question if there was a need.
In August 2022 I slipped over into a pool. My left middle finger clipped an edge and as a result got dislocated and was lodged, twisted slightly. this meant that when I made a fist the finger overlapped with the other fingers. And it unfortunatly also meant I couldn't really play guitar.
When I met Mr Goon he very quickly knew the issue despite claiming it was quite rare. We managed to swiftly go through the processes up to the surgery in late January 2023. my hand is still healing and I am able to play guitar again many thanks to Mr Goon.
