I found my experience of having a right hip replacement a lot more agreeable than I had imagined having previously only had a minor brachytherapy operation in 2018 and my tonsils out many years ago ! Mr. Joshua Jacobs is clearly and excellent and skilled surgeon as being only 9 weeks today since the operation I am walking without any aids and easily going up and down stairs without any difficulty, and after consultation with Mr. Jacobs yesterday will resume playing tennis, albeit in a gentle way, ensuring I do not fall over, and continue to do daily exercises and walking and thus build up the supporting hip muscles. With regard to how the procedure could be improved, I find it difficult to comment on as my experience was nothing but positive with excellent service in Ashford Hospital, and the food and diligent care was commendable. When I left Dickens Ward after 2 full days, I went to the Clavadel rehab clinic in Guildford, and experienced nausea and complete lack of appetite, which transpired to be the opioids called Tramadol, and the amount thereof I was taking; so after two days the senior nurse there reduced the dosage and then took me off them completely, which after another 24 hours I started to feel better and my appetite began to resume. This is not a criticism as I appreciate patients can react differently to drugs, but just thought it worth mentioning. To summarize, the 5 stars in "Select" are what the senior and experienced Generals rise to, and it is for a reason............in latin.......... "optimum" ! Richard Cole.

Mr Jacob is the kind of doctor I could trust implicitly. He listens to your concerns and gives very honest answers. He gives you the opportunity to contact him with any concerns you have after he has discharged you. Lovely man. Very professional in every way . Thank you Mr Jacob

I am very pleased with the operation and how it is healing. the only thing that spoilt it was that I have had a numbness in my right hand 4th and 5th finger tips and think I probably laid awkwardly on my arm for the op trapping a nerve.
