When I received the news that I had breast cancer I was very shocked. No tears just wanted to know what could be done. Mr Dawson understood that people deal with these situations differently and I was glad that, within 3 days of the confirmed diagnosis he had planned my treatment and had booked my operations. Dr Dawson always delivered a caring and considerate approach when explaining the diagnosis right through to the procedures and expectations afterwards and has always been right with his predictions. I class myself very lucky that I have Mr Dawson as my consultant and would recommend him as a highly knowledgeable and experienced consultant. I generally felt that he cared. I would like to take the opportunity to say a massive Thank you not only to Mr Dawson but also to the brilliant and caring breast care nurses that work along side him.

For all the bad press the NHS receives, I found this whole experience a lot easier due to Mr Dawson & all of the staff concerned at Northampton general hospital. He has a very caring attentive bedside manor & I always felt he was genuinely concerned for my welfare & that I was never just "another number". All questions were listened to both patiently & attentively & even prior to my op he visited the ward to again reassure me it was all about focusing on the detail & that I would be fine. In what can be a life changing experience I am relieved that I found somebody of Mr Dawson's caliber & wouldn't hesitate to recommend him to anybody with this insidious disease.

I love the plain talking no nonsense approach. His advice was clear and to the point. He made sure I understood what was going on and encouraged questions. He made a difficult time easier, less traumatic and as painless as possible. I have no complaints whatsoever and would not hesitate to recommend him. Mr Dawson operated on me in December 2013 and January 2014 for Breast Cancer.During the initial consultancy prior to my having a Mastectomy he was sensitive and reassuring. He did not promise me anything he couldn't deliver. He gave me a range of options and we agreed with the most appropriate treatment. Having the opportunity to say what I wanted was very comforting. The surgery was a success without any 'nasty' surprises. Following surgery the initial hormone treatment did not agree with me. I saw Mr Dawson in clinic today to request a change in my medication. He spent a lot of time listening to me and checking details. He has arranged for me to receive a different hormone treatment that will hopefully suit me better without compromising my long term health. I cannot praise him enough and would recommend him to anybody. He is a true professional with the human touch.

Mr Dawson is always completely professional but has an approach which puts you at ease and he gives you time to ask questions and you don't get the impression that he hasn't got time to listen to you.
