Having had my mobility reduced from walking 10 miles and climbing 2,000 ft to only being able to walk 100 yds on the flat in 9 months by severe spinal stenosis, I was desperate to reduce the pain and recover my mobility. Mr Leach saw me promptly, explained clearly what the problem was, what he could do to correct it, the risks involved and the likely cost. I woke from the operation with no pain and have had none since, only the inevitable tenderness around the incision which healed quickly. Now, two months later, I am absolutely delighted with what he was able to do for me. My mobility is returning steadily and is currently 50% of when the problem first began. Mr Leach assured me spinal surgery is not as risky as people think and my experience has been nothing but positive. My recovery is proving very much as predicted and given me every confidence that the information and advice Mr Leach gave me was accurate. I really couldn't have expected anything better!

L3/4 Lumbar Discectomy October 2019 My initial consultation and diagnosis was quite thought provoking and worrying but Mr Leach has the ability to provide you with all the information and clarity you require to make the decision to proceed with surgery. The surgery was a little more complex, but the result was fantastic at no time was I left wondering what was going to happen next. The care before, during and after has been as you would expect. Thank you for your consideration and confidence and also thanks to the nurses at the Alexandra.

I found Mr Leach and all his team very professional and was well looked after by all members of his team before and after my operation. I would highly recommend Mr Leach to anyone who has any spinal problems.

I bulged my L4/L5 discs playing football in January 2018 - John monitored me for 8 months and suggested non-surgical methods initially in hope that my injury would resolve itself. In August 2018 John conducted a microdisectomy to reduce the significant nerve / leg pain that I had been experiencing for 8 (long) months. Prior to surgery I was regularly taking pain killers every 4 hours and couldn't walk longer than 10 minutes than being in pain. John is extremely patient, calm and reassuring. At no stage did I feel rushed into making a decision on surgery and John consistently provided excellent advise to allow me to make an appropriate decision. On the day of my operation, John came to meet me in my private room explained the process for surgery and thoroughly set my expectations. Surgery was completed within an hour and John came to see me when I was back in my private room and explained the outcome of the operation and next steps. Ultimately, I don't know the specifics of what needs to be done to complete a microdisectomy but all i can comment on is the end result. 10 months on from surgery i can reguarly complete 10km runs and be pain free at almost all times. I sometimes have a small ache in my lower back but it compares nothing to the leg/nerve pain i had 12 months ago. I can't thank John enough for his care, knowledge, support and guidance throughout the last 18 months and I can only recommend others who encounter significant leg/nerve pain from damaged discs to seek advise and support from John. Thanks again - Callum.

I am 63 year old women, with server stenosis and spondylothesis of the spine. I was in agony for 20 years ,delaying surgery out of fear.Over many years i had consultations but, was not confident about the surgeons.I even continplated going abroad ,I then looked up Mr John Leach, and had a consultation with him.I came away for the first time ,this surgeon was very confident about the outcome of surgery and informed me of every aspect of the procedure. He told me after my scans and x rays i would have no pain.I did not think that was possible. However, 2 week of the operation i was able to walk to my corner shop,5 weeks on i walked 4 miles today with no pain in my body. I never thought this was possible .To get this level of input and skill i assumed you had to pay.as a private patient. I am so grateful to Mr John Leach a genuine caring man. I must mention Stuart, for his patience in dealing with me. Thank you so much. Anita Monaghan.
