I consulted Mr Leach about my lumbar stenosis, and he took great pains to explain the procedure and all possible risks/benefits etc. He clearly has a wealth of experience and knowledge and I was greatly reassured by his calm, confident manner. It is now more than two weeks since the procedure and all pain has gone, the wound itself gave minimal discomfort, and I can now look forward to resuming a normal, pain-free life. I am deeply grateful that there are people like Mr Leach who dedicate themselves so completely to their chosen profession, to the immense benefit of their patients.

In 2016 I was diagnosed as having a tumour and a syrinx in my spine. After a lengthy consultation with Mr Leach, it was decided that an operation to de-bulk the syrinx and tumour was required. Mr Leach listened to my concerns and managed to allay any fears about theUIoperation that I had. After the operation, I was up and about the very next morning and received a visit from Mr Leach who told me that I was "Amazing" as he didn't expect me to be up and about so quickly. The level of care that I received on the ward was exemplerary, and after a scan and a visit from the physio I was discharged 4 days later. I am still under the care of Mr Leach because unfortunately the radiotherapy treatment caused a breakdown within my spine, which caused spinal fractures resulting in scoliosis and a forward stoop. Mr Leach has continued to provide me with MRI scans and consultations as required and monitored my condition accordingly. Mr Leach is a true gentleman and a credit and a great asset to his chosen profession.

Mr Leach was my Surgeon, I was diagnosed with an ependymoma and large cystic mass in my spinal cord. Surgery was my only option otherwise I would of been paralysed. He was thorough and straight to the point and explained the surgery was very risky, however he had to tell me this. I basically had to trust him and go with it. Surgery was carried out 18th Nov 20 I was under 5.5 hours, he ended up amputating part of spinal cord due to the tumour being entwined. I am here to tell the tale, was back driving within a week walked following day. Feeling better than I did prior to the Surgery, I know its going to be continual monitoring etc but alive and kicking. I totally felt at ease and trusted him, when you actually speak to him he is straight down the line, which I prefer. He is a true Professional and is very knowledgeable in this area of medicine. I would highly recommend Mr. John Leach, if you are unluckily diagnosed with similar conditions to mine.

My condition was a trapped nerve in my neck due to a severe disc bulge. The pain that this caused was extreme, and this was affecting my mobility and ability to work. When I first met Mr Leach I was put at ease straight away and the options open to me were fully explained. Due to my condition and having seen the MRI Scan I decided that surgery was the best option for myself. I get nervous going for a check up at the dentist so you can imagine that surgery was a big thing for me. Mr Leach was great and gave me total confidence that I had made the right decision to have a discectomy. The risks/benefits associated with the surgery fully explained. Communication at all time from Mr Leach and his PA was excellent, I always felt that if I had any questions or concerns that these would be addressed straight away. Prior to the operation Mr Leach kept me informed about what would happen on the day and what followed was exactly as I was told. I was always kept relaxed about the operation and continued to have total confidence in Mr Leach. The surgery went well, so well in fact that (unbelievably) I woke up with none of the pain that was there before. I am writing this 5 weeks after the surgery and at no time in this period have I had any pain, I stopped taking pain killers a couple of days after leaving hospital. My mobility is improving daily and the post op advice and assistance is helping with this. So a big thank you to Mr Leach for his skill and patience in me getting me back functioning again. I have to mention the care that I was given by everyone at the Spire Hospital in Manchester which was always excellent both prior to the operation and post surgery.
