I have suffered with foot problems for several years but never had the courage to see anyone about it. I got more and more frustrated because I love the outdoors, have a campervan and two dogs to being able to walk is very important to me. Eventually I plucked up courage and contacted Mr Mann's office to arrange an appointment. I was pleasantly surprised that it was so straightforward to make an appointment. When I met Mr Mann he immediately put me at my ease, took time to examine my foot and explained in a very straightforward way what he would be able to do for me. At no time did I feel I was being rushed or under any pressure to making a decision. I felt I could take as much time as I needed. When it came to the surgery, because of Mr Mann's kind and patient manner, I felt extremely confident and relaxed and his aftercare was second-to-none. Thanks to Mr Mann I now have two good feet and hopefully I will be able to enjoy my camping trips again this year with lots of great walks.

After a ruptured Achilles I was eventually seen 10 days later for surgery due to my persistent nagging of staff, this was much delayed. I had poor follow up services at RF and strange decisions regarding foot position as I healed ie stayed in full equinos rather than progressing to flatter cast each couple weeks. I was left in cast too long I had to demand to had it take off as I needed it start rehab asap- I was previously sent a letter saying follow up ie removal of cast would be delayed for a few more weeks! Eventually put in boot and progressed with wedges. I was in a lot of pain and noticed the length of tendon was clearly longer than my good tendon, I believe this was a surgical complication. As a result of poor management in terms of early mobilisation and physio , lengthening of tendon now leaves me with a weakened calf which despite all my efforts remains fatigued past 5k, and very prone to calf strains. I was and still am very active however I am now limited due to this injury. Yes the tendon was reattached, too late…and probably too long, I feel the care under dr Mann and RF in general was suboptimal.

I was referred to Mr Mann almost 10 years ago for arthritis in my right ankle. This was caused by an old trauma. Mr Mann monitored the condition through regular appointments, x-rays and discussion. He finally decided that there were no further options other than a full ankle fusion. Throughout this process I was informed of all risks and benefits. The operation was carried out in May 2023. I experienced very little post-operative pain and my recovery progressed exactly as it had been explained to me. As of December 2023 I am fully mobile and working on rebuilding strength in the affected ankle. I would like to express my thanks to Mr Mann and all of is team in whom I have felt full confidence throughout my operation and recovery.

My 16 year old son was referred to Mr Mann, who carried out major foot reconstruction surgery on his foot. It was a very complicated procedure that Mr Mann performed with great skill. As you can imagine, this was a stressful time not only for my son but for all the family but Mr Mann's reassuring and confident manner helped us all through it. The outcome was a great success and it has literally transformed my son's mobility. In my opinion, Mr Mann is a highly skilled and caring surgeon and I would thoroughly recommend him. After complaining of ankle pain for decades, my current GP referred me to the Orthopaedic Team at Royal Free Hospital. I was lucky to be seen by Mr. Mann. He asked me to walk around his consulting room and from that suspected that I had both tendon and possibly bone issues. He sent me for X-rays, ultrasound and other scans. These showed, cysts in the bone plus bone and tendon damage. Mr. Mann explained my options. Due to the intense pain I was suffering, we agreed that the best option for me would be an ankle fusion operation. This was arranged quickly. My operation took place on 6 July 2023. After three weeks I was completely pain free. My leg was in a cast until 2 October when it was replaced with a boot. Up to that point I was not allowed to put my foot on the ground. On 16 October, Mr. Mann allowed me to walk, with crutches without the boot. There was a little pain but nothing compared to 5 July. Today, 18 October 2023, I can walk for a good few minutes indoors, with shoes and crutches, without pain. I do have a little swelling if seated for a few hours, but exercises and physio which, will commence on 30 October, will reduce that with time. I thank Mr. Mann personally for listening to me, explaining the ramifications and performing the operation. His support team should also get a mention. I thoroughly recommend Mr. Mann to others suffering with pain.
