5 1/2 months in from a robotic left knee replacement I am very surprised by the speed of recovery of the knee - largely with no pain ( since day one ) and no restriction in use. As an active 'hands-on' 77 year old and running several businesses, I was back to work in 2-3 weeks and driving in 6. I am only held back by my 'good' knee which I hope will be similarly replaced later this year. Andrew ( and Dr. Mahroof ) has been totally professional from day one and a pleasure to consult with. My experience so far has been as near to 100% as is possible with such an operation.

Very professional explained the whole procedure and possible problems. I had 2 total knee replacements 3 months apart. Be aware it is not an easy recovery and quite painful. Lack of sleep being in my case a major problem. I gave just had my year review and all going well. Mr Carrothers says for all scar tissue to heal properly will take another 6 months or so. It is a long process of healing but I am walking much better than before the operation. Still some discomfort but I keep very active and exercise regularly it certainly helps. Thank you to Mr Carrothers and all the staff involved.

After months of debilitating pain in my right leg and hip and a rather traumatic first appointment with another hip surgeon who told me only about the risks of any surgery, I saw Mr Carrothers for a second opinion. He listened carefully and immediately gave me back my confidence with his positive and empowering attitude. He carried out my total hip replacement with Robotic-Arm Assisted surgery, which through its precision, I am sure, contributed to my fast recovery. My treatment was based on cutting-edge research for which I am very grateful. Today, 5 weeks after the operation I am free of pain and astonishingly mobile. I could not have asked for better care.

My first appointment with Mr Carrothers was to discuss not just a new hip replacement operation but also to address a previous issue with the other hip that was causing me ongoing problems. Mr Carrothers was immediately respectful, patient and attentive to my situation and my needs. He answered all my questions clearly, offering me a realistic assessment of what I could expect. This honest approach gave me confidence to proceed. In due course, Mr Carrothers performed the operation which was a 100% success. It is clear to me that even with Mr Carrothers' considerable knowledge and many years' experience, he still takes great interest in each and every individual patient, and I was definitely a beneficiary of this high professional standard. My life is much improved following my operation for which he has my sincere gratitude.
