I have recently had two procedures to remove cataracts with local anaesthetics and found both experiences good and painfree. The care I was given was exemplary with everything being explained and agreed with me. Miss Abeysiri put me at ease and provided excellent aftercare and follow up information answering all the questions I had. I am happy to give the best recommendation for her work.

I have the utmost respect for Miss Abeysiri, she is incredibly skilled. She is also very polite and kind. Miss Abeysiri has performed trabeculectomy surgery on both of my eyes, I trust her implicitly. I am seen by Miss Abeysiri in an extremely busy NHS clinic and although I have hearing difficulties she has always been very understanding and makes sure that I have understood her.

Miss Poorna Abeysiri prior to me going to theatre, was very polite & pleasant. Made me feel relaxed, took onboard my other health issues concerning Gall bladder & Kidney stones, reassured me that my eye drops would change. In theatre she checked with me what was to be done was correct & the reason why. She reassured me I was doing extremely well under the local anesthetic, explaining each stage of my Cyclodiode Laser operation as it progressed. At the end of the treatment an eye patch was covering my eye & was told to remove it later tonight or the next morning. I was very impressed. Thank you and to the team. I was back on the day ward awaiting my prescription, and awaiting my partner to arrive to drive me home. A nurse walked with me to my partners car when she arrived, to ensure I was alright. I thanked her.

I have been attending the Eye Clinic at Queen's for the last 25 years or so.Each time I was examined by a different clinician who had a quick glance at my clinical notes, visual check of my eyes and their pressure and then sent me away with the instruction of either to continue with the existing eye drops or a new prescription. Having worked as a dentist myself before I retired,I know how important continuity is in the successful management of the patients. It is not always possible to arrive at the right clinical decision just by looking at a snap shot of the clinical picture at the time. Since Miss P Abeysiri arrived, she has been seeing me continuously.Although pushed for time (clinical time is a very precious comodity in the NHS),she takes time to engage me in my treatment, presents me with various treatment options, their benefits as well as risks. This I appreciate very much. I just had a cataract operation carried out by Miss P Abeysiri and her team at King George's Hospital. The whole procedure was uneventful.I can't praise enough the supporting nursing team at the out patient clinic. They were all cheerful and look after the patients really well. After the operation, they made sure we were alright and treated us with a cup of tea and biscuit. All the patients left with a smile.
