Dr M.Abdelghani conducted my anaesthetic for my several hour long abdominal surgery on 1 September 2022. His gentle, reassuring and confident pre op assessment and preparations set me fully at ease. I could not have wanted anyone else. I made a smooth recovery from his anaesthetic which I ‘m sure is testament to his skill. His anaesthetic team were so quietly assured and efficient. They were clearly working as a team, with a consultant who they liked and respected.

I have known Mo as a patient for several years and his knowledge, bedside manner and skill are second-to-none. He has an incredibly reassuring and friendly demeanor. He is a fierce advocate for his patients (in the face of some very challenging NHS conditions). I have had repeat intralaminar epidurals and the results have been fantastic.

I came out of my consultation with Dr Abdelghani feeling that, after suffering with chronic pain for several years, I had turned a corner. I told my family that I really feel like he listened to me and ultimately I trust him. As I suffer with severe anxiety, I was not looking forward to the appointment but Dr Abdelghani was so professional that I was able to relax, explain and listen effectively. I really did feel so much more positive after this appointment.

I have visited several private pain specialists in the region however it was only until I met with Dr Abdelghani that I felt for the first time in almost a decade that I have made significant progress. I feel like I am working towards getting my life back under the guidance and wisdom of the extremely competent, knowledgeable and professional expertise of Dr Abdelghani. A clear communicator, good listener and highly appreciated medical resource in the region.

Profile

I am a consultant in Pain Medicine and Anaesthesia at the Manchester University hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (MFT).

I am the Clinical Lead for the Chronic Pain Services at the trusts site in Oxford Road, Trafford & Altrincham General hospitals.

I became a medical student at the age of fourteen and was one of the youngest medical graduates in Egypt.

After graduating from Medical School in Cairo, Egypt and completing my Masters of Science and a 4 year training rotation in Ain-Shams University, Cairo I Relocated to the UK where I rotated in Training posts around North Wales, Mersey and Surrey.

I joined the Northwest Training Rotation as a Specialist Trainee and completed the five-year training Program. My last year of training was spent at the Imperial school in London, specifically in the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital where I completed his Advanced Pain Medicine training in a twelve-month program.

I am a Fellow of the Faculty of Pain Medicine and a Fellow of the Royal College of Anaesthetists by examination.

I have published chapters on multiple topics of Pain Medicine in 2 books published in the UK and the USA.

Presenting in international medical conferences is an integral part of my annual academic calendar. I have a well-established interest and role in post-graduate education and healthcare management. I chair the North West Pain Group, which holds regular monthly meetings for Pain Medicine Consultants in the North West Region.

It is currently well established that early referral to a specialist pain team has been shown to improve outcomes in patients with chronic pain in multiple studies.

Together with my team I will ensure that your assessment is thorough and treatment is started expeditiously avoiding unnecessary delays and helping you regain control of your life sooner. Early intervention for chronic pain can improve quality of life and reduce the risk of further disability.
