Dr Al-Shakarchi has been looking after my mother since 2015.She has consistently given mum great care, giving her time as English is not my mums first language and putting my mum at ease when she gives her steroid knee injections with skill swiftly done with minimal discomfort . My 93year old mum walked out happily from todays appt as in previous times. Dr Al-Shakarchi takes time to answer my mums questions and explain her plan of management . We are very grateful she is my mum's rheumatologist Many thanks for all you do (guessing lots more behind the consultation)

I’m a medical student currently on placement at Kingston Hospital. I was lucky enough to sit in on one of Dr Al-Shakarchi’s clinics recently and she was the perfect example to me of what an excellent doctor is like. She was patient, kind, thoughtful and insightful. She listened to all her patients’ concerns even if it didn’t pertain directly to her speciality. She’s warm and approachable and makes her patients’ feel comfortable in her presence. It’s clear to me that she wholeheartedly cares for and prioritises the well-being of all her patients. Beyond her duties as a doctor, she also took on the role as a teacher during my morning with her. She was kind enough to answer all my questions and taught me how to take an effective rheumatological history, even though she had an extremely busy and long day. I’m truly grateful for this experience and I know that any other student would feel exactly the same way.

Dr Israa Al-shakarchi is my elderly father’s rheumatologist. She is one in a million doctor, attentive, caring, takes a real interest in the patient and carefully explains so that a lay person can understand. Her attention to detail goes beyond the remits of her own specialty. She incredibly spotted a small suspicious lesion on my father’s earlobe that I had barely noticed and recommended getting it checked out by dermatology urgently. It was cancer, fortunately caught early before it had spread, surgery done and now healing nicely. I owe a debt of gratitude to her. I can’t say I received the same attentive and precise care from the dermatology consultant a few weeks later. He barely looked up when speaking, didn’t explain what he suspected it could be and we had to resort to a conversation with the GP at a later stage. May God bless Dr Israa Al-shakarchi. She is a gem NHS, look after her. A grateful carer/daughter.
