Dr Ian Wilkinson

Dr Wilkinson specialises in Internal Medicine with main interest in the treatment of Hypertension. He has been looking after me for the last few years. I find him a very knowledgeable and competent doctor. His advice is based on extensive clinical knowledge and is evidenced based. He is an excellent clinician who is approachable and listens to his patients needs carefully. I will have no hesitation is recommending him.

Having had a 10 year history of Hypertension , countless tests and having confounded most of the Doctors and specialists I have been seen by, I was referred to Dr Wilkinson. He was both knowledgeable and balanced, accepted my somewhat intimate knowledge of my own prognosis and didn't talk at me. He was able to quickly cover off most of the previous possibilities and commission a final suite of tests to exclude any other physiological causes. His initial suggested prescription was confirmed after the tests and seems to be working. I now have a slow reduction in BP towards an acceptable level (for me) and importantly without the side effects that previous medication had caused. I think above all Dr Wilkinson was able to explain realistic goals for me and assist me to achieve these. I would recommend him unquestionably.

Professor Wilkinson has assisted me with a long term (>10 year) hypertension issue having had numerous previous tests and being both understanding of and frustrated at, the difficulties I was having. He was extremely knowledgeable but listened to my experience and explained both causes, likely outcomes and options at an appropriate level. I am a degree qualified professional engineer. He was able to recommend a course of treatment at the first consultation, (subsequently initiated and seemingly successful) and organised a final suite of tests expeditiously in order to close off any potential physiological causes not previously checked for.
