I have received the most wonderful care and attention from Mr Siddiqi, I honestly cannot praise this man high enough. Having to talk to anyone about problems with your bottom is very, very embarrassing and I was dreading having my initial consultation, but I was worrying for nothing, I felt so relaxed and knew that I was being listened too. I have had three operations under Mr Siddiqi and each time he has been very honest and told me exactly what to expect and when I asked what the pain would be like, he was honest with me and I respected that from him. I knew exactly what to expect. I would recommend Mr Siddiqi 110% to anyone and his secretaries, they keep in contact with you throughout your proceedings and book any necessary appointments. Excuse the pun, but Mr Siddiqi will always "get to the bottom" of the problem, he never "poo poos" you.

Mr Siddiqi listened intently to me whilst I outlining my symptoms, interrupting only to ask specific symptom related questions. He responded sympathetically and with good humour throughout the interview and examination process, putting me at ease throughout what could have become an embarrassing and uncomfortable experience. I left feeling assured of an eventual successful outcome.

Great doctor - advised me of everything that is going on - explained what was involved in the procedure and made me feel very relaxed. After care was great as well and offered ongoing support for my condition.

Dr Siddiqi and his team were absolutely fantastic. I was made to feel at ease at a time of great stress to me. I was informed of my condition and the risks of treatment in a very caring manner and was made to feel very secure and safe. The whole process from preparing me for my operation, to the aftercare I received, I can not fault. Even the aftercare since leaving hospital has been faultless. It has been a delightful experience to meet such a helpful and caring person at such a stressful time. Dr S Siddiqi and his team were brilliant. All I can say is thankyou. When it was my hour of need, I'm glad such a great team were in place to help me.

Profile

Mr Siddiqi is a Consultant Surgeon at Broomfield Hospital. Within the Department of General Surgery, he is the Lead Surgeon for Pelvic Floor Surgery and Surgical Site Infections.

Since his appointment, he has initiated advanced robotic surgery using the da Vinci robot for pelvic floor conditions and is one of the most experienced surgeons in this type of robotic surgery in the country. Broomfield Hospital is the only centre in Essex performing robotic operations and is a BUPA preferred centre for robotic surgery. This extensive robotic surgical experience has now been used for other colorectal operations including surgery for cancer. Mr Siddiqi has also introduced new and innovative therapies for faecal incontinence and constipation.

Despite his background as a surgeon, Mr Siddiqi has extensive knowledge in medical problems such as irritable bowel syndrome, pelvic pain and Pruritus ani (anal itch) without which, he feels, he would not be able to manage complex surgical issues.

He has developed academic links with Anglia Ruskin University and is currently involved in surgical research projects in the fields of colorectal cancer and surgical infections. He is a Honorary Senior Lecturer at the university and is the GI module tutor for the MSc in minimal invasive surgery.

Mr Siddiqi graduated from St. Georges Hospital Medical School, London and later undertook research at the University of London studying methods trying to improve the detection of colorectal cancer spread for which he was awarded a MD thesis. He completed his specialist surgical training in the North East Thames Higher Surgical Training programme. Mr Siddiqi obtained further advanced training in Castle Hill Hospital, Hull and Waikato Hospital, Hamilton, New Zealand. In Hull, which is a leading pelvic floor centre, he undertook a Pelvic Floor Fellowship. Subsequently, Mr Siddiqi obtained the rare accreditation for Sacral Nerve Stimulation from this unit. In New Zealand, he worked as a Laparoscopic Fellow at a busy innovative unit specialising in keyhole surgery.

He is on the editorial board for the Journal of Robotic Surgery.
