I was highly recommended Mr Atwal and I recently had arthroscopic surgery with Mr Atwal at The Nuffield Hospital. Mr Atwal was very thorough and the MRI scan confirmed his diagnosis and I was given a very timely date for surgery. Whilst I was very nervous having never had an operation before Mr Atwal was very reassuring and filled me with confidence. All went very smoothly and my knee feels great again. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend him to anyone.

Mr. Atwal offered me a variety of treatment options with time to think about how I wished to proceed. I opted for surgery and the procedure was explained in detail again at pre-assessment and on the day, including potential complications and outcomes. Mr. Atwal listened to my questions and answered them thoroughly and honestly. By opting for a Knee Chondroplasty, which I was told would not be an instant cure, it did give me symptom relief and within a week or so I was able to walk with significantly less pain.. I was in the gym (very low impact excercise) after six weeks and within three months back rowing, cycling and swimming. Mr.Atwal has drastically improved my life, as prior to surgery I could hardly walk for over a year, piled weight on and generally feeling sorry for myself(!). I can move with ease and lost 14 Kilos in three months! Thank you Mr.Atwal

I have just had my right knee patella-femoral joint replacement operation having had my left knee operation two years ago. Mr Atwal was the consultant for both operations and over the past two years has given me a considerable amount of his time, especially prior to the first operation, to explain my options and the likely outcomes. Initially when I was still unsure about proceeding he arranged a further appointment at the end of a busy day to talk through everything again. I had no hesitation in undergoing the second operation providing I had Mr Atwal as my surgeon! Eight weeks later, although I realise there is still a long way until the whole healing process is completed, I am making good progress, regularly walking up to 3 miles a day and sometimes more. The care I have received from everyone is exemplary, from Mr Atwal, to the anaesthetist, the nursing staff physiotherapist and the support staff. I am aware that I am lucky to be in a country where I have been able to receive such care thanks to the NHS. It is something well worth fighting to support and keep. Thank you.

I was referred to Mr Atwal by my insurance for a hip problem. Mr Atwal was excellent from the very start , mine was an unusual operation as I had an extremely tight IT band tendon which had caused a bone issue. Mr Atwal gave his diagnosis and explained my options perfectly and made me perfectly at ease with what we were going to do. From my first visit until the operation I was very happy with everything , he is an excellent surgeon and he takes great care with every aspect of his work from the consultation through until the final appointment post op. I am now looking forward to a fitter pain free future, I cannot thank him enough. Tim Hanman
