Mr Wijeratna took great pains to make sure I understood everything during the initial examination and diagnosis and discussed the options fully with me. During the operation he explained what he had found and was doing and afterwards made sure I knew what to expect during recovery. His care and professionalism left nothing to be desired and I would have no hesitation in recommending him to other patients.

On the 15th April 2021, I was lucky enough to receive a Complete Shoulder Replacement surgery performed by Mr Malin Wijeratna at the Woodthorpe Hospital. During the pre-op assessment process, and subsequent meeting with Mr Wijeratna , the procedure and everything that that entailed was was explained to be thoroughly, my questions answered , so that I was in no doubt that this was the right path to take. The surgery took approx 3 hrs, but my recovery began immediately, and without the intense pain that had restricted movement to my left shoulder for so long. Mr Wijeratna and his team were amazing, efficient and totally professional, and I consider myself to be a very lucky lady. My post op appointment with mr Wijeratna went very well today and I am totally committed to improving shoulder movement with Physiotherepy. I cannot thank everyone involved enough(including the team at City Hospital) -his bless you all-amazing Regards Gill Dixon

Direct but approachable manner. Clearly explained treatment options available to me and outlined procedure relative to my condition. Mr Wijeratna's manner, professionalism, and expertise made me feel at ease during the procedure. I was so happy to have things explained to me and to ask questions during my procedure. One suggestion is that on occasions my consultation felt a little rushed. I would have liked it to have been a little more 'paced'. Overall I'm very happy with my experience and with the outcome of my treatment. Thank you.

I had an operation on my shoulder as I had restricted movement following a skiing accident. I am thrilled with the improvement which was very quick and relatively pain free. Overall, I am delighted with the outcome.

Just one year ago I had a reverse shoulder replacement to my right arm, just after I got home we all went into lockdown due to the Pandemic, so I missed out on seeing Mr Wijeratna for a follow up appointment, but, due to the fantastic work both him and his team performed on my surgery, I managed with great care to get back on track again. I saw him again for the first time on Monday 15th March for a check up, it was lovely to speak with him again. He seemed pleased with my progress and said he would still keep an eye in me over the coming years. To be free of the terrible pain I suffered is all down to his skill and knowledge. Thank you so much Mr Wijeratna.

Response from Mr Malin Wijeratna

Despite the limitations of the pandemic, you have managed to do your own exercises and have had a great result! I was very pleased to see that you are free from pain and how your shoulder function is twice as good as what it was before your operation! Well done!
