Reviewing the other reviewers I have find I have little to add to his excellence! I have been lucky enough to have had 2 operations with Mr. Kunasingam: removing a Freibergs, an 'antler' of bone growing out of the top of my second toe, and a bunionectomy on my other foot. He and his team looked after me professionally and kindly, and the outcomes are perfect, reversing about 10 years of foot troubles. I wholeheartedly recommend him for any foot problems and would not go to any other surgeon. I had no pain with the first procedure and a very little with the second, mobile, on crutches, immediately after the ops, wearing shoes after the two week review. Bunions? Just go for it, you will be in very knowledgeable hands, and none of the discomfort associated with the old style op. Mr. K is the way to walk. All my grateful thanks to him and his team.

I must begin this review by apologising and acknowledging how late I am in writing this review. My sincere apologies! This review is about my 2nd procedure performed by Mr Kunasingam on my left foot back in November 2019, following an extremely successful corrective bunion surgery Mr Kumasingam performed on the same foot back in April 2019. Due to the complexity of my left foot my procedures were operated on as a two part process and to cause minimal impact on my busy life. Previous to me having any surgeries by Mr Kunasingam I was in so much pain with my left foot. I actually switched to driving an automatic car from my manual because at times I would be in tears when using the clutch to change gears. I was unable to stand for long periods as the throbbing pain was too intense and I used to dread dressing up for a night out or to attend a special function knowing that I would struggle with what to wear on my feet. Such a shame trainer's weren't an acceptable look for a lot of the functions! As well as the bunion and also because of it, my toes on my left foot had been pushed to the side (I would be facing North and my toes North West!) and sitting on top of each other. The constant pain of them rubbing against anything I wore on my feet was awful. As well as the pain, there was the embarrassment too. I hated the Summer months where everyone would freely wear flip flops and open toed sandals.........Not me! Even in the hottest of temperatures or on holidays abroad I would wear trainers or comfortable closed shoes so that noone could see my toes! So following my successful 'part one' of the procedure in April 2019 I returned for 'part two' of the procedure in Nov 2019. Unlike previous surgeries I had a real sense of calmness the night before and arriving at the hospital because I knew what experienced, excellent hands I were in. As I mentioned in my previous review the staff at Croydon Day Hospital are excellent. They greeted me warmly, were so welcoming and looked after me. The same day I walked out of the hospital with minimal pain and returned for regular follow up appointments with Mr Kunasingam. I returned back to work and commuting fairly quickly. The swelling on my left foot did take awhile to go down due to the complexity of the procedure however I was able to manage this by wearing a larger trainer on this foot for a short time. When Mr Kunasingam said I was allowed to I also returned to the gym. Fast forward a few months to now and my foot looks great. I am exercising and running regularly (pain free). I am able to wear flip flops, open toed sandals and go barefoot confidently in this glorious weather. I can stand for long periods and dance for ages painfree doing tic tocs with ny daughter! I do not think Mr Kunasingam has any idea just how much he has changed my life! Throughout my life, (I am soon to be 49) I have had bunions from childhood and had just learnt to accept that was how it was for me. How wrong was I? Mr Kunasingam showed me I did not need to just put up with it, just cope with it, and he resolved my issues for me and has drastically improved my quality of life. Thank you so much Mr Kunasingam. I can not recommend him highly enough. Mr Kunasingam said to me on my first consultation "We are going to go on an adventure." We sure did, and I am eternally grateful to him. Thank you. I had a double bunionectomy in January 2019 which left me in so much pain. Every step I took was painful I couldn’t do any sports, shopping was a nightmare, I would need to take constant breaks to rest my feet and to top it off my bunions were still there. I was told at a later date the surgeon only ‘shaved’ them. My 24 year old daughter has inherited bunions from myself and she was referred to Dr Kunasingam via her GP. He immediately agreed to help her as she was getting sharp shooting pains in her bunions. So relieved she went for her first op on her left foot all ok, then went for the second op on her right foot, both day surgeries in and out the same day. Her feet are now bunion free and she can happily dance the night away again and zero pain. Happy daughter. I saw how Dr Kunasingam looked after my daughter and his passion for helping change people’s lives made me go back to my GP and ask for a referral to see Dr Kunasingam to see if he would be able to help me with my pain, I wasn’t bothered about my bunions now just being able to walk pain free. After x-rays and an MRI on my feet within 7 months Dr Kunasingam had operated on my left foot which was the more painful of my feet and I am now, 5 months later, left foot bunion free and no pain. I am waiting for a final review next month then hopefully maybe able to set a date for my right foot. I just can’t thank Dr Kunasingam enough. When every single footstep you take is painful life feels quite grim. He has literally given me my life back. I would whole heartedly recommend him. Mother and daughter are very happy and both of us are doing the Couch to 5K - had I been told a year ago I would be jogging I would have laughed. No way could I have done that. I am so grateful a fabulous surgeon was able to operate and help me.

I was referred to Mr Kunasingham by my GP as I was having problems with a mis-aligned big toe on my foot ( a problem from childhood that had not been addressed properly then) I am now 44. It had begun to developed into a bunion and the toe was now sitting under my other toes, which was causing me to walk awkwardly, causing subsequent sciatica. I was very apprehensive about the surgery, having never had a GA before and being asthmatic, I was worried about the risks and the recovery time. However, I felt very reassured at the first consultation, especially when I was advised that the operation would be key hole and that I would be a day patient. Mr Kunasingham fully informed me of the procedure and also advised what would be involved with the recovery. The date for my surgery came through quickly. However, it was in the midst of the Covid-19 outbreak, so things were a little bit uncertain at the hospital. The surgery went ahead and all the staff in the day surgery were amazing. The procedure was explained to me again, just before consent was given and I was in surgery by 11.30am (I arrived at 7.30).The surgery was completed in under two hours. Once I had recovered (with a cup of tea and a sandwich) the physio showed me how to use the crutches (including stairs), I had my obs taken, all was fine and I was home by 4pm. Amazing. I was able to partially weight bare the same day and only required the use of the crutches for two weeks. Unfortunately, due to the corona virus, I was unable to have my follow up appointment, but Mr Kunasingham kindly contacted me by telephone and advised me of the exercises and that I would need to get the bandage removed at the GP surgery. Putting on shoes proved a challenge for a few weeks, due to the swelling, so I had to wear my sons trainers that were one and a half sizes bigger than what I usually wear. But I was able to get out and about, although walking with a slight limp for a couple of weeks. The healing process has been really quick and there have been no complications and the pain was very manageable, thankfully. The incision marks are fading well and you would hardly know that I have had an operation, apart from a really straight toe and no bunion. I am delighted with the results and no sciatica either. I would highly recommend this surgery and Mr Kunasingam in particular, if you have trouble with bunions!

I am a 54 year old lady who had a bunion on my left foot, my days were painful, I work in London do a lot of walking in and around my office. I'm also used to wearing heels, my problems started when the bunion got bigger and I found it so difficult wearing shoes, even buying shoes was a problem. I spent a lot of time researching and looking at the benefits of key hole against open surgery and the benefits of key hole far out weigh open surgery. Once I had made that decision I wanted to find an excellent surgeon, after researching mainly the internet, Mr Kunasingam is by far the best in his field of expertise and his professionalism shines through, he is extremely passionate about his work and has a very easy going personality. On my first appointment I noted how extremely clean the hospital was which is so important, the friendliness of all the nursing staff is again very evident, after my first consultation I decided to go ahead with surgery , Mr Kunasingam explained the procedure, I had an x-ray and Mr Kunasingam explained in detail the bones in my foot, where I would have screws. I am still amazed you can walk out of hospital the same day on crutches. On the day of the surgery, I was a little apprehensive, but was put at ease by the nursing staff and by Mr Kunasingam who also came to explain step by step. The care I received was excellent, after surgery I felt a little dizzy which is only to be expected, I slept, had food and was then was on my feet walking with crutches and shown how to use them up and down stairs. All the nursing staff were very caring, after receiving my medication I was allowed home, I slept all night with my foot elevated and every day after it improved. I felt I didn't need to use crutches, but followed the guidelines and rested, kept my foot elevated and after two weeks went back to have the dressing taken off, I had a small limp, the swelling had reducing tremendously and was back in soft training shoes. Every week after this there has been an improvement, I am now three months post surgery, and back to practicing yoga, I workout three times a week, my toes are very flexible and the muscles in my foot and ankles are getting stronger every week. I followed the guidelines and listened to Mr Kunasingam, was told to massage my foot and complete all the exercises and physiotherapy five times a day. I am so very pleased, I would certainly recommended Mr Kunasingam and the Croydon Day Hospital, and I'm more than happy to speak to anyone thinking of having this procedure Thanks so much !!
