After being under Mr Pittathankal's care for over 2+ years now I cannot speak highly enough of him.
I first met Mr P, after learning I had the BRCA2 gene, and I made the decision to have a preventative bilateral double mastectomy. Him and his team went through great lengths to help me understand, not only my first procedure, but all procedures from that point onwards.
I hold Mr P in the highest regard. He is professional, compassionate and has the ability to put your worries to rest, you simply could not ask for a better consultant.
I have seen Mr Pittathankal in the breast clinic where he undertook investigations for a breast lump.
He was caring and reassuring throughout and I would not hesitate to see him again if I had any further issues in this area.
Mr Pittathankal has treated for me 5 years for Triple Negative Breast Cancer. Throughout that time he has been professional, explained things clearly to me and guided me through treatment and surgery. This has been done with kindness and empathy throughout and everything he has said has come true. He is progressive and always looking into research and new techniques to improve outcomes for women going through breast cancer. He provides training, mentoring and support to medical students and it has been a pleasure to be part of those training days. Oh and he always has a big grin on his face :-). Yesterday he discharged me from further treatment or monitoring. I shall miss him. He had become an integral part of my life and I never dreaded my appointments with him even thought it wasn’t always good news. He helped me mentally and physically deal with breast cancer. I am forever grateful to him. Thank you very much Mr P.
I found Mr.Pittathankal to be a considerate and caring surgeon who I felt I could trust on his recommendation to have an adrenalectomy to check whether a tumour was malignant or not. Fortunately, after same weeks and extensive checks, it was found to be benign.
No after effects after nearly 3 months except slight bulging around the laporoscopic entry area points and scar tissue is still tender when turning over in bed. Hopefully it should feel less so in the next couple of months. I understand that open surgery would have led to even more scar tissue and that Mr.P's surgical skill lessened the possible negative consequences.
Very impressed with this caring Consultant. He listened to myself and my family and put me at ease during appointments and when I had my operation. Cannot fault the after care too.
