I was recommended to see Mr Carrothers by a friend who had a hip replacement six months earlier. I was able to make an initial consultation within a few weeks and I was impressed at how at ease he made me feel. It was of course necessary to have an x ray to diagnose the problem and Mr Carrothers discussed the findings and his suggestions to proceed with a full right hip replacement. The procedure was fully explained and I was given a leaflet regarding the advantages of using the Mako robotic computerized machine . I was surprised at how quickly the recovery period was compared with my knee operation some five years ago.

Extremely patient and calm. Listened to my fears about the operation and gave me confidence that all would be okay.

I am delighted with the hip replacement Mr. Carrothers gave me at the end of October, and am about to resume normal activities, including driving, dog-walking and dancing. I was very much at ease with Mr. Carrothers. He listened to what I had to say, and was very reassuring and encouraging.

From my first consultation with Andrew to the CT scan to bloods, everything went like clockwork in a very caring way. Carol Morse was also very efficient in my dealings with her. I also received reminder texts before each meeting which was great. From the moment I arrived at the Spire Lea for my Right Hip operation, it felt like being in a hotel rather than entering a hospital for surgery. This made me very relaxed pre Op. Plenty of nurses coming and going keeping me informed of when my surgery would be. Considering the surgery I felt very little pain post Op. It was more discomfort which was expected. Over the next few days the nurses were very attentive and helped me feel relaxed. Up the following morning walking and the start of the journey to recovery. When I was cleared to leave I had a bag of medication given to me. All items where explained when to take and how long to take them. I am now just over 4 weeks since the operation and comfortable to walk around the house with no crutches. I still use them outside walking just in case. Andrew and his team where owesome. The whole event was very calm and relaxed and easy to take in my stride. If I ever need the other hip done I will certainly be back to Andrew and his team at the Spire Lea in Cambridge. Thanks to all for a great experience.
