I had a partial knee replacement 7 weeks ago. Mr Melton performed the surgery and I was out of bed within 24 hours. I was off crutches within a week, up and down stairs unsupported after 2 weeks and driving after 3 weeks. My joint is now stable, has 135 degree flexibility and I am up and down ladders and walking 10000 steps a day. My experience could not have been better and I would have no hesitation in recommending Mr Joel Melton who has a knee problem.

I asked our physio to refer my daughter to Mr Melton as I was sure that she had a problem with her knee and wanted an expert opinion. Mr Melton immediately diagnosed the issue which was then confirmed via a speedy MRI and X-Ray. Unfortunately she needed surgery to address a tear in her meniscus, release her ITB and relieve a meniscal cyst (the only symptom which had resulted in my initial insistence for the referral to Mr Melton - he recognised the problem instantly). We were booked in for surgery quickly and very well advised and looked after. Mr Melton and the nursing staff were positive, informative and the care before and after surgery was wonderful. I also can't praise Sam, Mr Melton's Practice Manager, highly enough, She is understanding, responsive and kind. After hard work at rehab - which involved support from Mr Melton who quickly answered any questions we had about the finer details of recovery and scar management - my daughter is back to the sport she loves - hockey - and has just earned her 6th international cap playing for her England age group. I'm really grateful for Mr Melton and the fact that he works with children as well as adults. Without him and his team I suspect my daughter would have not have been able to take the brilliant sporting opportunities she has over the last 3 months. If any of the rest of us need our knees looking after in the future I know who we will be going to!

I meet Mr Melton back in March this year for ACL reconstruction. I can only say, He is the best orthopaedic surgeon I have ever meet. He is kind and listens to you. He never makes you feel like you are wasting his time. He's understanding and re assures you. He treats all his patients with dignity and respect. Being a passionate equestrian, Thank you for giving me my life back!

20+ years ago, in my early 40’s, I was diagnosed with “a rotten worn out knee”. Far too early for a replacement so I limped on. It got to the point where I couldn’t finish 18 holes of golf. By chance a I met a friend who recently had a replacement. He said if you are having a replacement go to see Joel Melton. It was a perfect storm! First meeting mid January and was booked in for early February. Having had many consultations over the years I didn’t know what to expect. The sun came out! Mr Melton was a revelation. He listened, explained the pros and cons of the operation and what life could be like after the replacement. Super smooth process of pre admission, MRI and CT scans followed by a very thorough pre admission medical check. A week before the operation Mr Melton called me to ask if I had any questions or concerns. He assured me that I would be in good hands and that he had a great team who together would take good care of me. It really helped to reduce my anxiety (and fear)! Above and beyond! Nuffield Cambridge hospital provided the best care in a very comfortable environment.The staff were just amazing- every one in every department. 6 weeks after the op I have no pain, walking easily and am getting ready to play golf again very soon. If you could create the perfect profile for a surgeon- caring, considerate, good listening skills, tremendous knowledge, enthusiasm and experience you have Mr Joel Melton.
