I have been under the care of DR Hamilton for over a year and the care has been superb and everything has always been explained and I've always left feeling very reassured.

Miss Hamilton was very professional and courteous, explaining the problem and proceedure very clearly and succinctly. I was totally reassured that I am in good hands and that Miss Hamilton will be doing the surgery when it happens.

My wrist pain was rather confusing, it wasn't very straight forward. I was concerned that I wouldn't be believed about the level of pain I was experiencing during every day use. It was so reassuring when Miss Hamilton listened to me and took time to try and understand what was going on for me. The surgery went well, I was spoken to throughout the procedure and Miss. Hamilton was more than happy to answer and explain my many questions. She explained what she was seeing through the camera and offered me reassurance throughout. Her team were also excellent and they worked together really well which gave me full confidence in the procedure and care. Thank you

Thankyou so much this review. It is very kind of you to leave some nice feedback and I’m glad you are happy with your care. I always seem to end up with the mysterious cases where no one knows what to do! I like a challenge and solving puzzles. As someone who is very hypermobile I understand how frustrating it is to have pain with no obvious cause, who is often dismissed.

Full of admiration for this doctor who operated on me yesterday. She inspired great confidence and never gave up me when my diagnosis was not as clear cut as it should have been. Would recommend her expertise to anyone. Elaine Marler

Thankyou so much this review. It is very kind of you to leave some nice feedback and I’m glad you are happy with your care. I love a challenge and always seem to end up with the complex problems that have previously been dismissed. I appreciate that some problems don’t always fit the usual pattern and need a bit of brain power applied!

Profile

Consultant Surgeon in Trauma & Orthopaedics, based at University Hospitals Sussex in Brighton and Hayward’s Heath. Specialising in hand and wrist elective and trauma surgery. I receive complex tertiary referrals from all over the South of England including thumb base, wrist and finger joint replacements. I also manage major polytrauma cases involving massive hand and wrist injuries to nerves, bones and tendons.

I was elected to the Council of the Royal College of Surgeons of England, which overseas and guides 30,000 surgeons. Through this group I sit on multiple committees across NHS England initiatives as well as the Academy of Royal Medical Colleges.

I was appointed to the T&O Selection Design Group which Interviews and appoints all ST3 Orthopaedic Surgeons at a National level, choosing the next generation of orthopaedic surgeons.

I have published research and presented internationally about hand surgery, as well as the advantages of improving diversity within surgery, and orthopaedics in particular.

I love to encourage and mentor junior doctors and surgeons. I teach on lots of educational courses and help trainees prepare for exams. I am also a Personal tutor and lecturer for Medical Students at Brighton and Sussex Medical School.

I take the time to get a detailed history and understand my patients’ unique concerns and needs. I love to draw pictures to explain a diagnosis and I work with the patient to come up with the best plan for them. There are no hard and fast rules in hand surgery, my care is always very patient specific.
