Firstly there isn't anything Dr Subhash Kandikattu could improve on. His knowledge is unbelievable, just seeing him is extremely calming, I trust him 100%. Dr kandikattu and his team are outstanding from start to finish. I had a number of injections in various areas, throughout the procedure Dr kandikattu is repeatedly asking if I'm in pain, can I feel any discomfort, do I feel ok and if I'm ok for him to continue. The nurse is also checking if your ok which puts you at ease, even holding your hand. Dr kandikattu tells you what he's going to do throughout the procedure so you know exactly what's happening at all times. The whole team are exceptional, friendly yet still professional. Before leaving the team give advice, letters, follow up date and a number to call if any problems which is 24hr care. I honestly can't thank Dr kandikattu and his team enough, it's just outstanding care.

I had RFA on my SI joint, I was so nervous but I can honestly say that this has been one of the best procedures I have had. Dr Kandikattu spoke to me all the way through the procedure and explained everything he was doing, at any point I felt any real discomfort he stopped until I was ready. I would totally recommend Dr Kandikattu and his team

I had my cortisone injection procedure into my ongoing painful shoulder by Dr Kandikattu, he was very patient and spoke very clearly and loudly so that I was able to hear what he was saying. The whole procedure was not as painful as expected and I was very impressed with all the nursing and care staff as they were very attentive also.

Profile

Dr Kandikattu is one of the few pain medicine consultants in East Anglia to have gained certification in the Fellowship in Interventional Pain Practice (FIPP). He uses the biopsychosocial model of pain to offer modern assessment and management of his patients’ pain at the Peterborough City & Stamford Hospital, Fitzwilliam and Boston West and Clementine Churchill Hospitals.

“Whilst doing my pain training at the Royal Marsden Hospital, Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, St Mary’s Hospital and Hillingdon Hospital, I was inspired by the pioneers in pain management there and I became keen to learn new techniques.”

“I am pleased to now be able to tutor students studying for their MSc in Regional Anaesthetics at the University of East Anglia and I hope that I can instil some of desire to embrace new and modern pain management techniques in these trainees.”

Dr Kandikattu offers comprehensive pain management to people suffering from chronic pain from their head to their toes including: cancer, musculoskeletal and spinal (neck, chest, lower back, sciatica), neuropathic, complex regional pain syndrome, fibromyalgia, chronic headaches and persistent post-surgical pain.

He performs a full range of pain interventions including epidurals, facet and sacroiliac joint injections, radiofrequency denervations, most of which are image-guided using x-ray or ultrasound guidance. He is also an expert in treating acute pain and inpatient pain management.

He offers outpatient appointments and inpatient care for pain management intervention at the Fitzwilliam and Boston West Hospitals. Patients struggling with chronic post-operative pain may need further pain management to relieve their discomfort and Dr Kandikattu can offer a back-up service for them too.

“I use this holistic model of approach for all my patients, taking all the biological, psychological and, social factors into account as each can impact on a patient’s pain. It’s important to treat patients as a whole.” said Dr Kandikattu.
