First time I had a general anaesthetic, was very reassuring. Pleased I was offered alternative pain medication to that initially advised after I raised concern over ibuprofen use with coronary artery disease. After taking a couple of tablets as a precaution only, I was amazed I didn’t actually need to take any!

While I only interacted with Dr Uncles briefly compared to my consultations with the surgeon, I recall a very caring, relaxed approach that put me at ease. He explained things clearly and patiently in our initial meeting. Lying in the pre-op room in the minutes before an operation and anaesthestic to be administered is a nervous time, and Dr Uncles, by simply being chatty about holidays and mundane things in those few minutes, put me more at ease.

I recently had a knee replacement in Goring Hall and David Uncles was the anaesthetist. He was very professional and caring. He was very kind and explained everything in detail to me and I would highly recommend him.

Dr Uncles on first meeting was friendly, reassuring and calming. Just what you want before going to have an operation. He discussed what was going to happen throughly and was most supportive. When brought down from the room to the prep room before op. Dr Uncles and his assistant, David, Were again calm and welcoming, had premed then asked to move into a position to allow epidural to be administered. Next thing I knew I was waking up in bed, feeling fresh and relaxed ready for a drink and something to eat. Was seen after op and the next day before discharge by Dr Uncles. Again friendly and useful information on what to expect next given. Overall a very pleasant experience, which could of been a lot more stressful, if not for Dr Uncles and his teams care. Would highly recommend, if you are cared by them then sit back, if you can, relax, as you are in safe hands. Martin Richardson

David Uncles came to see me prior to my hip operation and informed me as to the anaesthesia procedure. He asked if there were any questions that I had and answered them to my satisfaction. He followed up with a visit the day after the operation to ensure that I was happy with the procedure. His manner was professional and friendly.

Profile

I am a specialist Anaesthetist with interests in Obstetric, Ambulatory and Inpatient anaesthesia. I employ a variety of anaesthetic techniques including general or regional anaesthesia, although I often use them in combination to optimise and enhance patients' peri and post-operative experience.
I am dedicated to putting the patient first through the provision of safe and reassuring care delivered in conjunction with my colleagues and associates.
I was present at the inauguration of the Helsinki Declaration in June 2010. This enshrines the values essential to the promotion of the highest professional and safety standards expected of anaesthetists. It is my hope to match or even exceed the expectations of patients who place their trust in me.
