Put me at ease with friendly, professional manner. Listened to my worries, gave me a thorough exam and explained everything in simple language. Gave a diagnosis and advice on how to proceed. Left his consulting room feeling so much better for having all the facts explained. I contacted Prof C by email a few times after the consultation and he always responded quickly and helpfully.

I felt Dr Chinoy had brilliant listening skills and took seriously my issues that I had been unable to find help for previously from my GP. He reassured me my symptoms were not a rheumatic illness, but gave me understanding of the reasons for my two years of pain and fatigue symptoms post- Covid hospitalisation, how I might progress and the timescale and reality of improvement. I felt understood, supported and reassured and three months on am gradually progressing to feeling less in pain, rather than feeling my situation was further deteriorating. Thank you for providing a logical reasoning, a clear framework and he emotional reassurance my situation could improve.

Professor Chinoy is great listener; he asked a lot of pertinent questions and came to a very different (and correct) conclusion to that I’d experienced in my GP practise. (I’d been experiencing severe pain and restricted movement in shoulders and hips and my practise were convinced it was not PMR). I was prescribed a course of medication that brought about almost immediate relief of symptoms and continued improvement through a managed treatment plan. I feel I’ve got my life back, particularly being able to sleep again as the pain at rest had become unbearable.

Professor Chinoy firmly believes in the importance of clear, open communication with patients and sufferers of musculoskeletal conditions. He trained in Rheumatology in the North West from 2001-2009. He completed an Arthritis Research UK Fellowship at The University of Manchester, and was awarded a PhD in 2007. In 2009 he became a Consultant Rheumatologist and in 2010 was awarded a Senior Clinical Lectureship in Rheumatology. He was awarded a Chair at The University of Manchester in 2019.
Research interests include immunogenetic risk factors and how these correlate with novel serological biomarkers and clinical outcomes. He is co-chair of UKMYONET, a national consortium which fosters collaborative research in inflammatory myopathy.
