I saw Tim Kane following a hip dislocation at The Spire. He reviewed the injury and arranged for my referral to a specialist surgeon immediately. Most impressive was his willingness to direct the insurance company, despite being tight for time and due in a separate clinic. In the week leading to the surgery Tim phoned personally on a number of occasions to check all was well. Extremely grateful for the care I received from Tim.

Response from Mr Timothy Kane

Many thanks. Traumatic native hip dislocation as a result of ski injury. Very grateful to Chris Jack ( acetabular reconstruction specialist) for his prompt and excellent service.

Mr Kane has completed two FHR for my Mother. Mr Kane showed my 79 year old Mother great respect and explained fully the procedure, the possible side effects and what she could expect from her hospital stay. He sensed how anxious Mother and indeed her family were for each of these procedures but aleyed our fears with his knowledge and compassion agreeing that we could wait at the hospital whilst Mother was in surgery so we could be there for her when she was brought back to the ward. Mother has recovered fully from the last operation (November 2014) and is now able to walk, around the home at least, unaided which is a huge improvement on the pre-op situation. Mother has asked me to complete this feedback on her behalf as she is so happy with the results of the surgery and because she feels Mr Kane is a 'thoroughly decent chap'.

I was referred as an NHS patient to Mr Kane for investigation of lifestyle limiting hip problems. A full hip replacement (FHR) was recommended. He fully explained the reason for his diagnosis and the overall details of the FHR procedure and follow up protocols. All along he explained topics in clear and sympathetic terms and not leaving the patient lost in medical terminology. His attention to patient needs was faultless throughout consultation ,operation and post-op and he was ever willing to answer questions and discuss any patient anxieties. Whilst not expert in undergoing FHRs, I can only say that the resulting cure of my hip problem is way better than my expectations; am now able to walk with a normal gait and as far as am able to tell, the orientation and sizing of the new joint is perfect - I have heard from acquaintances who have had FHRs that resulting uneven leg length is not uncommon. From my experience of treatment from Mr Kane, I would not have the slightest hesitation in recommending relatives or acquaintances to Mr Kane for diagnosis and surgery. He is clearly in my view a highly skilled and well experienced orthopaedic surgeon who deserves proper professional recognition.

I had a knee joint replacement performed by Mr. Kane in November 2013. Having been told that it would take a year to be back to normal, I was completely free of any pain by March 2014 and had been driving since the end of January 2014. I would recommend Mr Kane thoroughly. He also treats his patients like human beings.
