Mr Kane led the orthopaedic operating team at QA and performed my left hip replacement. From the moment I met him at my first consultation, I immediately trusted him. I felt relaxed, respected and listened to. He quickly earned my confidence and I left feeling that I would be in good hands when the surgery took place. On the day I entered QA for my surgery, the team in Ward D5 took excellent care of me. My operation took place a couple of hours later. The replacement hip has been a huge success. There were no issues. The anaesthetic model worked extremely well. I left hospital the next day. The recovery was fast and I was walking without pain and crutches after 2 weeks. Mr Kane saw me for my follow up 8 weeks later and I was able to tell him that I am pain free and able to move around more freely than I have been able to do for a number of years. It's as if I am released from a very difficult period of pain and restrictions. Thank you Mr Kane and to all the members of your excellent NHS your team who did such an outstanding job. Finally - it made a big difference to me to know that Mr Kane practices both in the NHS and privately. My NHS experience at QA was outstanding.

When first meeting Mr Kane I was walking badly & painfully, with one crutch. Both of my Hips were chronically arthritic. My Right Hip had cysts & was given priority. However, a large Inguinal Hernia had set up a Right Groin infection & had to be repaired, first, in July 2024. Mr. Kane waited, before inviting me back for the Right Hip replacement. In this time, my Hips deteriorated. I was on 2 crutches with more pain & the right side replacement was more complicated, needing a bone graft as well. The procedure was performed successfully on 22.01.2025. At the Post Op. Review, Mr. Kane knew I was still in a lot of pain with my Left Hip & guided a further referral. The Left Hip was, again, difficult as it was very inflamed. It was successfully replaced on 30.06.2025. There was extra blood loss because of the inflamed blood vessels round the Hip. I had a problem with severe hiccups in the first 2 weeks of recovery but still felt supported to seek advice from NHS Services. The remainder of my recovery went well & I'm now on much reduced medication, pain free, crutch free & walking again. I have much respect for Mr. Kane's skills & all he has done for me.

I am so pleased that Mr Kane was allocated as my hip replacement orthopaedic consultant. At the pre-op assessment he said that I would be able to go home straight away and I wouldn't be in pain. He was right! I could move around the flat without any aid and only used the walking cane when outside, and that was more for uneven surfaces. The whole procedure has been great and, thanks to Mr Kane I'm now enjoying life again. At the post op assessment I said that if the left hip needed replacement, I don't mind who does the operation; as long as it's Mr Kane!

I had my L TKR carried out 10 yrs ago by Mr Kane. I had no hesitation at all to recently let Mr Kane carry out my R TKR. I had both my operations done at Spire Havant through the NHS. The staff were all doing their best to make your stay as comfortable as possible. Can’t praise them all enough

During my first consultation with Mr Kane I felt very nervous. Due to my age of only 54 and showing signs of needing a total right hip replacement. ( Already had a total right knee replacement and due a total left knee replacement) I felt like I would not be believed or even worried that it was not really the problem. The pain I was suffering was awful and not sleeping each night had a huge knock on effect on my life. I was unable to walk 5 minutes down the road. However, Mr Kane did an up to date xray which was only 2 months after the one he was looking at. He could see a rapid change in 2 months and told me it was bone on bone and at end stage. We discussed the opperation and the medication I was taking. He also ran through the complications which put the fear in me. Totally understand I needed to hear it before making a decision but for some reason it worried me. However I decided to go ahead and have the opperation. Second time I met with Mr Kane I had an opperation date. We had the same conversation on complications and he discussed what to expect and I signed the consent form. On the day of my opperation I can honestly say I was petrified. Mr Kane put my my mind at rest and said his anethatist would be down to see me shortly. His anethatist is lovely and she was very understanding. After my opperation Mr Kane came to visit me on his ward round and I can honestly say I was so happy I had had it done and there had been no complications during the opperation. I saw Mr Kane ten weeks post op and I was happy with my results and so was he. I scored 47/48 on the Oxford score. I was a NHS patient but if you are going private I recommend him. He doesn't tell you what you want to hear he tells you as it is and I appreciated his honestly.
