Thoroughly professional, staff are helpful and polite.
Good communication.
Terrible hospital for private care received gastric sleeve 13may23 . Stay all of 20 hours as I felt a burden to all . Surgery went wrong spending 10days in a nhs hospital in which didn't no how to care for me and my needs nearly died.
After care I received NONE no one cares about me left with ptsd and in debt over over 10 thousand due to loss of earnings while recovering from the worst care sergeon should be ashamed .
Tried to complain but no answers there might sue
The hospital is modern and clean. The staff treat each other with mutual respect and kindness. They are very caring.
Understanding and professional.
From the moment I got showed to my amazing room to all the care I received from the doctors, nursing staff, admin staff, catering staff- I was looked after so well.
The pre op nurse Jackie over the phone could not have been kinder, my day nurses i think Beth who is an apprentice nurse was so supportive and Kim who looked after me in the night was fabulous especially when I had my happy tears of relief that the mastectomy operation had been done.
I would have no hesitation in recommending the Spire Portsmouth to any patient who is to undergo surgery.
The whole team at Spire Portsmouth have been amazing. All staff are compassionate, caring and put you as the patient first.
The rooms and waiting areas are spotlessly clean, calm and quiet. Nurses are nearby and respond with care and attention to any queries.
Information needed before admittance is sent for in advance to your home/online.
Timings were good although there was a longer wait for my surgery, once admitted than I'd expected. After surgery there is constant then regular check ups to ensure all is well. My date of birth and address were asked for repeatedly but probably for good reason.
Discharge was efficient despite the usual need for time to get medication, discharge letters etc. A tray with tea and biscuits was provided for my relative and myself while we waited.
Outside there are green spaces to look out on from the rooms and free parking close to the entrance - or the reception staff will call for a taxi for you.
Walking there from Havant station to the Spire is about 40 minutes with the only delay being in trying to cross the road to the entrance road.
The staff are very helpful and friendly. I sometimes arrived very early for an appointment (due to ferry/train times from Isle of Wight) and they ensured I knew where to get refreshments as necessary, taking me personally and finding a chef for me.
The outpatient department staff are also very efficient with friendly very helpful staff and within sight of the waiting area which has reasonably comfortable chairs and space for all. The screens are mercifully quiet and quite informative, if a bit repetitive after a couple of visits. There is a little separate but visible play area for young children.
All staff at spire are kind friendly and professional.
I had surgery in September 2023 having previously attend for outpatient appointments where everyone from the reception team to nurses and my consultant were all kind and professional.
From the moment I arrived at the hospital I was treated with kindness and respect. The anaesthetist and theatre staff were exceptional and my surgeon highly experienced and professional. The nurses and HCA’s on ward one afforded me dignity, especially on the first night post-surgery.
My en-suite room was spacious and comfortable, the only improvement I would suggest is to upgrade the slightly 'tired' looking bathroom and install a shower instead of a bath.
The pharmacy team were great and explained my medications before I was discharged. I must not forget the catering team, nothing was too much trouble and the choice of food was great.
Finally, the portering team were wonderful; from taking me for a post-op x-ray to taking me to the car following discharge where the porter gave me very helpful instructions on how to get into the vehicle.
I would thoroughly recommend Spire Portsmouth Hospital for anyone wanting a professional team and great care.
The staff and consultants are amazing but the day case PODS are horrible, no bigger than broom cupboards with shared toilets and with building work constantly going on around you. No dignity and definitely not worth the money, I’ll be looking for an alternative hospital to see my consultant in future
