After two and a half years I am pleased to report that I have 2 totally pain-free shoulders, which are now working way better than they have for the previous 10 years before I started on this long and frustrating journey! All thanks to Mr Rohit Gupta who is the most exceptionally talented and skilful surgeon. I cannot thank him enough for his wonderfully patient approach from my first consultation to final sign-off. He diagnosed both shoulders as very arthritic and explained in detail why my only hope was to have them both replaced if I wanted any quality of life in the future. As a golfer and tennis player it was becoming impossible to do all the things which keep me sane! Having had a hip replacement 5 years ago which revolutionised my life I went into the first replacement on the left shoulder full of confidence and hope. Unfortunately after a bad accident many years ago which resulted in a badly broken collar bone (which had not repaired well) and a damaged shoulder resulting in much scar tissue the procedure was not as straightforward as he had hoped and I suffered nerve damage. After 3 months Mr Gupta referred me for tests to a neurologist who happily diagnosed bruised and angry but not severed nerves, which just took time to recover. They eventually did. A year later I decided to return for the right shoulder replacement which, after the first experience, was not an easy decision. But Mr Gupta was exceedingly patient and gave me the confidence to have another go! It was all straightforward and a totally different experience. Pain free very quickly and able to carry out all the exercises for a speedy rehabilitation. Unfortunately I became overconfident and started doing too much too soon after 3 months and this resulted in a torn rotator cuff. This completely wrecked all Mr Gupta's good work. He then explained that the only option was to remove the anatomical shoulder replacement and perform a reverse replacement. This was a horrendous thought but his gentle persuasion built up sufficient confidence for me to return for this third procedure, all within 18 months! At the age of 73 I was ready to readjust my expectations and give in to crosswords and jigsaw puzzles for the rest of my life! How glad I am that he wouldn't accept this for me and once again gave me the confidence to give it another go. 6 months later I am playing 3 rounds of amazing golf (with a handicap reduction!) and 4+ hours of pickleball (a version of short tennis) per week. Hopefully I will get back on the tennis court in the future. He is also horrified to hear that I will be skiing in January! He has told me he likes a challenge (just as well!) but that I need to look after both shoulders in the future. I suspect he doesn't want to see me again so I will try my hardest not to wreck his wonderful work. But if I do I will definitely be back to see him. Mr Gupta - Thank you so much for sorting me out so brilliantly. I should also give praise to the physio he recommended.

Mr Gupta is a very pleasant, courteous and professional man. He is clearly very good at what he does he makes you feel completely at ease even though you’re not. He answered all my questions and fills me with confidence. This opinion is based on my recent operation on my left shoulder. I gave a similar review and opinion when he operated on my right shoulder last year. I couldn’t recommend Mr Gupta enough. From the initial consultations to the operation including all communications right up to discharge after two successful operations 10/10
