I was referred to Dr Kash Akhtar after a MRI confirmed I had bucket handle tear of my meniscus. From my initial appointment with him I knew I was in the right hands. He clearly explained everything from the type of tear to how he was going to repair it through surgery and made feel at ease straight away. On day of the surgery he explained everything again and made me feel very relaxed about it. 12 weeks on and I am back to the gym and extremely happy with my treatment. Kash is professional, knowledgeable and very personable. I highly recommend Kash to anyone looking for a knee surgeon.

I underwent a knee arthroscopy for a torn meniscus in September 2018 which was performed by another Orthopaedic Consultant at a private hospital. After 6 months I suffered a serious set-back which caused me enormous anxiety due to restrictions on my mobility. My Surgeon had a busy schedule and could not see me for a review or provide a care plan. Having led a very active life I was once again in pain and distressed with being unable to carry on with normal daily activities. At this point I decided to seek another route and a second opinion. Following recommendations from friends who have been to the Fortius Clinic, I saw Kash Aktar in March. Since coming under his care, my knee has improved immeasurably and I am now able to carry on with my daily activities. Kash has been extremely supportive, helpful and reassuring. He provided me with a current care and maintenance plan to follow as well as a clear understanding of treatment required in the future. I had some stiffness in my left knee for which I went to see Mr Aktar. I was happy with Mr Aktar’s care. He was very good at first explaining how the knee joint worked, using a detailed model as demonstration which is an effective way for a layperson patient to understand rather than having a technical paragraph of explanation spoken at them. He also understood the need for the patient to know what was going on with their body and explained the medical jargon in reports without prompt to ensure that this was the case. He was thorough in his investigations and gave good and fair advice.

It has been 12 month since my OCD and I back to normal life. I took a post operative MRI scan more recently and the results from the scan indicate I am totally healed.
