I had a total shoulder replacement in the very capable hands of Mr. Theivendran, who was with me every step of the way, before and after my surgery. Hope he’s still available when I need my next one!!!!!!! 10/10!

My name is Christine Nugent and 3 weeks ago I had a fall leaving me with a humerus bone fracture. After one week of severe pain I was introduced to Mr Kanthan Theivendran who admitted me and sent me for a CT scan. Later that day he viewed the scan and decided an operation was the best option due to me having Parkinsons. The operation was undertaken the following day and reduced my pain by about 80%. Mr Theivendran's skill to repair the shattered bone was superb not to mention his pleasant and polite mannerism. The staples have now been removed and I was delighted with how neat the scar is. I cannot thank Mr Theivendran enough for his excellent care and professional approach. Many thanks Christine Nugent

My name is mr JSJones. Approximately four years ago I started having pain in my right shoulder. I did as many do and went to my doctor. This led to two and a half years of pain killers, inflammatory creams, physio, X-rays, cortisone injections. After all this I was told I had osteoarthritis. I had severe pain in my shoulder many times. To relieve this pain I would throw my arm out like a fast punch, my shoulder would make a sound like a crack and the pain would go. On two consecutive days I had this severe pain I tried to throw my arm out as normal this time it did not work. The pain was excruciating after thirty minutes I asked my wife to phone a ambulance because my arm was turning blue. After calling an ambulance out on two occasions I was referred to city hospital. This was when I saw Mr Kanthan Theivendran, after looking at my X-rays he said I must be in some serious pain. This is when he gave two options, which were to live with the problem, or have a complete shoulder replacement. At that point I didn’t even know you could have a shoulder replacement. I stated I would rather have my arm and shoulder amputated than live with it. I decided I would go for the shoulder replacement. Mr Theivendran explained all procedures in plain English. I was admitted to Sandwell hospital on the 12th of June 2019, the operation was started at approximately 9.00am that morning by M Theivendran. I came to at approximately 3.30 that day. The service I received from all the the staff throughout the whole three days was excellent. It is now one year on, my shoulder feels absolutely fantastic. At this point I would like to say thanks to all the staff at Sandwell hospital. And to Mr Theivendran, I really appreciate the quality work carried out on my shoulder and many thanks for giving me my life back.
