I was initially referred to Mr Akrawi early 2023, I have had a number of operations carried out on my leg over the years but more recently I had been experiencing a vastly reduced quality of life filled with constant discomfort and pain, resulting from a badly misaligned knee. On my first consultation with Mr Akrawi I felt that he took a genuine interest with the issues I was experiencing. My previous surgeries were also fairly complex but Mr Akrawi took time to listen to what had been carried out previously, he asked questions so he could have a good understanding of my problem and how this was affecting me. Mr Akrawi was very positive from my first consultation, he gave me hope for a brighter future. He was very clear when explaining the procedure that he felt could improve my situation. All Xrays, scans etc were requested, this again filled me with hope and confidence. Prior to consenting to any procedure being carried out Mr Akrawi explained the procedure in a way that I could fully understand, what he felt was possible, I was shown and talked through my XRays which again made it easier for me to understand and appreciate the complexity of my case. I was given the opportunity to ask any questions or address any concerns that I had, at no time did I ever feel rushed during a consultation. A date was set for surgery but prior to this Mr Akrawi consulted with me again to ensure that he had all necessary information and again ensured that I was 100% happy with the procedure that he was going to carry out. He was clear on what to expect on the day of surgery, I was having a bone broken to then realign my knee, my leg would then have rod and screws inserted to enable the correct position to be obtained, the healing time to be assisted with a bone graft being inserted to the break, the graft being harvested from one of my own healthy bones. The operation was lengthy and complex but Mr Akrawi did not finish when the surgery finished, he personally contacted my mother to confirm that all was well and my surgery had been completed, he followed up with me daily through out my stay in hospital, genuinely taking an interest in my recovery, reassuring me and letting me know what to expect going forward. He is more than happy to address questions from myself of family member. I am now in the early stages of my recovery I can`t thank Mr Akrawi and his team enough for the surgical procedure that has been completed. Mr Akrawi obviously has a great talent and passion for the work he carries out, fortunately for myself , past and future patients. Sincere thanks Mark

As a result of a football accident, I suffered a serious fracture to my humerus at the elbow. My humerus was aligned in A & E and then Mr Hawar Akrawi operated on my arm the following morning. He clearly explained his plans for the surgery to me beforehand and then successfully carried out the operation, which took over 5 hours. Afterwards Mr Akrawi came and discussed my surgery and the recovery process. He explained everything very clearly and was very reassuring.

We - a family from Inverness - have been so impressed with Mr Akrawi and cannot speak highly enough of his professional expertise and skills along with the way he deals with his patients and their families. Our daughter, aged 14, was referred to Mr Akrawi and he immediately identified that a full Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) reconstruction along with removal of damaged cartlidge was required in her right knee following a gymnastics injury which had happened some time previously. At the first consultation, Mr Akrawi was very clear and comprehensive in his assessment of the knee and what would be required by way of treatment. Throughout our dealings with him, his manner has been excellent and his commitment to doing his very best for all his patients is very clear. By his own admission, he is a highly skilled and experienced orthopaedic knee surgeon and all the available evidence to us would certainly back this up 100%. Our daughter went into hospital for her knee surgery on the 4th May and the operation lasted around 4 hours. At the close, Mr Akrawi confirmed immediately with us that the operation had been a success and he then paid us all a visit in the evening in the children's ward and spent a good 15 minutes checking things were OK and offering plenty of good advice, reassurance and support to us all. Our daughter returned home on the 5th May and thanks to Mr Akrawi, her knee should make a fully recovery over the next 9 - 12 months. We are so grateful to Mr Akrawi for the great work he has done for us and would recommend him without any hesitation to any other patient considering/requiring any knee operation surgery. From my first consultation with Mr Akwari I felt reassured and very well informed about the treatment he would give me. At the time of my knee replacement surgery he was absolutely superb. He made me feel very confident about the operation and the outcome. His advice for my rehabilitation was excellent. He is a great communicator and really listened to what I said to him. I enjoyed his sense of humour too. He made me really look forward to my second knee replacement surgery in his care!

From my first meeting of Mr Hawar Akrawi, he filled me with confidence. He was thorough, clearly explaining my condition and how he aimed to correct it and he was very respectful. The operation day came and and all went extremely smoothly with a very slick and dedicated team who obviously have the utmost respect for Mr Akrawi. On moving back to the ward he came to follow up and took time to assess my recovery and assured me of the success of the surgery. On the two follow up outpatient appointments, he addressed a concern I had with regard to inflammation of the wound and prescribed medication and had some blood tests done. He gave me sight of a before and after x-ray, explaining the difference the new joint had made . We discussed the exercises I needed to do and how to monitor my physical recovery. I was very impressed with his obvious of love of his job and the skill he possessed to correct my knee pain. My other knee is showing signs of wear and hopefully I can depend on being under his care when this requires attention. Mr Hawar Akrawi was extremely personable throughout and I was grateful for his skill and care.
