I am patient with added spinal complications who went to Mr Avanti for a Knee Replacement. He did spend time listening to me and we agreed a Total Knee Replacement. Six weeks on I am very happy with the result and the service / treatment I received.

Mr Arvinte was very professional at all times clearly explaining all that was going to happen and what could go wrong with the operation. It was carried out successfully and l was treated well throughout my stay in hospital.

I was on the NHS waiting list for years to have total replacement on both knees and was told that they did not know how much longer I would have to wait. I was in a great deal of pain and decided to go private. Unfortunately, I could not have the surgery at private hospital due to a cardiology issue. I was due to be admitted to Bedford Hospital for surgery on 10 September. it was cancelled as there was no bed available, I was extremely upset. Fortunately, I did not have to wait long and was admitted two weeks later. My experience during my stay at Bedford Hospital for total knee replacement (right) was as follows: - I was escorted to waiting room, I had to undress, given a gown in readiness for operation. Mr Arvinte and anaesthetist explained very eloquently the procedure, which was reassuring. I had to get undressed and put gown on in readiness for operation which could have been embarrassing as anyone could have walked in. I sat in my wheelchair for some time before being taken to theatre which was very uncomfortable. Mr Arvinte and anaesthetist came to see me on second day, I was told that surgery went well, such a relief. Tavistock Day Ward was really cramped, there were no chairs for visitors. I had a stool, it was too low to elevate my operated knee on, the nurse kindly gave me a pillow to place on stool, it was still too low. Nurses do their best under very difficult circumstances. On follow--up appointment Mr Arvinte stated that knee was progressing well, i do my exercises regularly, obviously this has paid off.. I am so grateful to Mr Arvinte and his team for giving me back some independence and making life easier for my wondeful husband,, my carer. I am waiting to have my other total knee replacement, hopefully I will not have to wait too long..
