A day care operation for hernia. Very careful initial consultation. The procedure involved open surgery and following the operation he took great care to explain how the procedure had gone and the slightly unexpected, but minor, complication that was involved. Very clear and reassuring follow up meeting after 6 weeks.

Mr Christian Macutkiewicz operated on me using the "Whipple Procedure" ( a major surgical procedure) in order to remove a cancerous tumour on my pancreas. At all times, both during the pre-operation phase and post - operation phase he exhibited total professionalism, a totally caring attitude towards me and equally importantly he explained things in detail to me, again a reassuring factor. Given the seriousness of the operation he helped to alleviate many of my personal fears especially when the words "tumour" or "cancer" were ever used. I have total respect for him and would certainly recommend him to others.

As a nurse with years of critical care experience I was to say the least nervous about submitting to a GA and a surgeon. Mr Macutkiewicz was present on the ward as patients were admitted and his review pre op set me at ease. He had clearly reviewed my case, explained the procedure and after care, as well as answer all my questions. He really put me at ease before the procedure. He also reviewed post op on 2 occasions, despite my case being straight forward day case surgery. I am so grateful they surgeon was Mr Macutkiewicz, who is clearly a caring professional.

Mr Macutkiewicz is an excellent consultant, professional but also comes across as a warm and genuine person who listens to what you have to say and puts you at ease in what is often a stressful situation. I can't thank him enough for patching me up and putting me on the road to recovery.
