Dr Pay has treated me through my treatment from the start and has been very professional and always explained everything in detail and always made me feel comfortable and at ease. I would totally recommend him for any skin cancer surgery.

He has a very straight forward but human approach, he explains your treatment in a very understandable way and will answer any queries you may have.

I have a large facial port wine birthmark covering 2/3 of my face, which had increased in bulk over the years to the point where it was making me feel depressed, anxious and upset. I met Mr Pay believing there would be nothing he could do to help me. How wrong was I? Firstly I would just like to say he is the kindest and most approachable person. He made me feel totally at ease and fully explained to me why my birthmark had changed over time in a very easy to understand way. We discussed my options after I was asked what I would like to see happen in an ideal world. I was told that we would be making decisions together and we had to be careful not to overdo things. I felt completely safe and in expert hands at all times. It was really very emotional and such a relief as any thought of surgery is such a frightening prospect, but Mr Pay made me feel full of hope in a realistic way. I have completed 2 surgeries to my face. I was very, very nervous about it, but it has gone amazingly well. Despite the surgery being quite extensive it is very difficult to see the scarring. My laughter lines and other facial contours have been used to disguise the scars. The difference it has made is fantastic. It has changed my life. I no longer get so many stares from people when I am walking along the street. I feel so much more confident and my anxiety has almost disappeared. My wedding took place after the surgeries and I felt overjoyed about how my face looked on the day. I cannot put into words how grateful I am for all of Mr Pay’s care and understanding. He is the most amazingly talented and skilled plastic surgeon and I am very, very lucky to be under his care.

Mr Pay always greets me with a smile and a warm handshake which he extends to who ever has accompanied me. Although he is clearly very busy he always has time to listen and makes me feel that my problems are important to him. Mr Pay has looked after my problems for more than ten years at both Royal Berks and John Radcliffe. He has advised treatment and performed several surgical operations. He always takes time to explain the treatment and any consequences with kindness. I am very grateful that Mr Pay is my consultant.
