I was put completely at ease with Mr Uncles, he has such a lovely bed side manner which I found really nice. He talked through in great detail what would happen before during and after the Anesthetic he would be administrating before my operation. He asked me lots of questions and I found he really listened. He made the operation I was facing a lot less fearful.

Dr David Uncles is an amazing man with great charm, knowledge and ability to make you feel that you are in very good hands and will look after you. And he did! Patience, thoroughness, and he continually let me know what he was doing and why. Equal praise must go to his assistant (sorry, I can't remember your name) who was still there with me when I came around from my operation two hours later. A wonderful team who calmed me down and helped me feel it was going to be OK. Thank you.

. Dr Uncles visited me before my surgery. He listened to my fears that I have veins that seem to object to having a cannula inserted, he put me at ease by offering to provide anaesthesia initially through a mask. Words cannot express how much calmer this made me feel as due to various surgeries in the past I have become increasingly needle phobic. Dr Uncles really listened to my medical history and some of the complexities around these. When I was taken to the anaesthetic room, he was so kind, calm and reassuring and really went the extra mile to help me feel relaxed. This meant the world. Thank you, you are a credit to the medical profession.

David has been a teacher, mentor, colleague and friend from my days as a junior anaesthetist in Worthing in 2001, through to the present day as a consultant colleague. He has taught me so many things, both practically about being an anaesthetist, but far more about being a good doctor though kindness, listening, professionalism, admitting and dealing with mistakes and preventing them in the future through good governance. David you are an exceptional doctor. Your reviews on I want great care show this wonderful attitude in abundance. I wish you all the best in this next stage of your career, I will miss having immediate access to your voice of wisdom, and the vast clinical experience directly available to me in the department. I have drawn on this so frequently over the years. All the best for a bright and enjoyable next stage…. Take care my friend. Chris.

Profile

I am a specialist Anaesthetist with interests in Obstetric, Ambulatory and Inpatient anaesthesia. I employ a variety of anaesthetic techniques including general or regional anaesthesia, although I often use them in combination to optimise and enhance patients' peri and post-operative experience.
I am dedicated to putting the patient first through the provision of safe and reassuring care delivered in conjunction with my colleagues and associates.
I was present at the inauguration of the Helsinki Declaration in June 2010. This enshrines the values essential to the promotion of the highest professional and safety standards expected of anaesthetists. It is my hope to match or even exceed the expectations of patients who place their trust in me.
