Gemma has been my mentor for the past 5 weeks on the Urology Investigations Unit. She is a dedicated Nurse who always puts her patients first and gives care to a gold standard. As a mentor, she makes sure I always feel comfortable, supported and free to ask her anything. She made sure I had all the information I needed and asked what my best way of learning was; to which, she made sure I was exposed to information in that way. She has tracked my progress with quizzes to get an understanding of how I am getting on. She has been making sure I have felt part of the team and that I feel I am in a safe learning environment. She is a great mentor and a great nurse, who I will miss working with.

Since starting in the unit, Gemma has been keen to gain as much knowledge and experience as possible so she can best care for her patient and support her colleagues. I have seen her flourish in her role. If I was a patient I would be proud for her to be my nurse.
