Mr Malek made me feel very comfortable and at ease, he explained everything fully with regards to the operation and after care. I felt that he did genuinely care and I wasn’t just another number. A very lovely man.

An absolute charming as Careing gentleman made me feel so calm and the surgery went so well checked up on me later that day and the next day till I went home thank you so much to him and all his team xx

It’s very difficult to add any comments that have not already been said about Mr Malek and his superb team. All I can say is I was in for a THR, operated Saturday lunch time then at home Monday lunch time. Many thanks to Mr Malek and his team and also a special thanks to his anaesthetist who recommended the spinal anaesthetic. I have never felt so important with a consultant like that before. He makes you feel valuable and even rings you at home to see how your progressing

Very helpful, I felt totally at ease with him, amazing bedside manner.
Calming presence and very clear in the way he spoke.
I had 100% confidence in him. No bad comments to say he was fantastic.
Looking forward to having my other hip done next year.

Mr Malek was very friendly and approachable.On the day of my operation he came to see me 4 times at various stages which I think was way above the call of duty as it was a Saturday. He was always informative, encouraging with a great sense of humour. My care at the Maelor was fantastic and I can't fault any of the staff.

Prof. Ib Malek joined BCUHB at Wrexham Maelor Hospital in January 2018 as Consultant Trauma and orthopaedic surgeon specialising in Lower Limb arthroplasty (Hip and Knee Replacement). He completed his specialist orthopaedic training from Wales training programme. He successfully completed 18 months fellowship at Adelaide, South Australia from Central Adelaide Health Network and prestigious Calvary Wakefield Hospital. His main interests are improving outcome following primary hip and knee arthroplasty, Enhanced Recovery After Surgery, Computer Assisted Orthopaedic Surgery (CAOS) and revision hip and knee Arthroplasty procedures.
