I was an out-patient at this hospital and had treatment/investigations in various departments. Staff are generally friendly, approachable and professional.

The Grosvenor Nuffield Chester is a brilliant hospital. The staff are always friendly and very helpful. It is not like going to a hospital as the waiting area is very comfortable and it is a very relaxed atmosphere. I would highly recommend this hospital.

Following a consultation with Professor Bobbic, and an MRI I was admitted to the hospital on 31 July 2024 for Arthroscopic Knee Surgery. Professor Bobbic was so professional in his explanation of the process and is clearly a brilliant surgeon. Prior to my surgery he explained the process and following the procedure he discussed precisely what he was able to achieve, and invited my questions. Dr Bamford, (Anaesthetist) was also excellent in his description of the process, and in the way he fulfilled his responsibilities. I would like to thank the Ward staff who were highly professional, whilst achieving a great level of patient care and informality. Especially 'Dawn' - who was extremely caring and attentive to both myself and those who were also patients on the day of my admission. Dawn advised me of the timings for the day and regularly checked 'everything was good' Although she was busy - nothing was 'too much' as she made time to ensure my admission was a good experience. 'Kerry'- in theatre was obviously highly experienced and most supportive. 'Receptionist' I arrived after 7am on my admission day and was welcomed by your receptionist, who despite having to prepare for a busy day ahead - certainly made me feel welcome. 'Chole' Was also most helpful on my departure from hospital, ensuring I was safely in my transport for home May Congratulate the above, all of whom are a credit to the Nuffield Hospital, and who demonstrated how your service truly provides such a wonderful service to your patients. Please pass on my thanks to those who made my short stay in hospital so comfortable - they are a credit to you. Thank you David Ost

How do I even begin to put into words how truly amazing Jonathan Adamthwaite is. Not just as a surgeon, which he is, but as a genuine kind and compassionate person. I went to see him after almost 8 years at the time of being very happy with my bust. I had a car accident that left me with life long injuries, a fully amputated arm and breaks to my neck & spine. I had to wear a metal halo frame from my head to my hips to support my injuries for a very long time, I had a horrible indent in my chest which has bothered me for so long and I finally decided I’d try to do something about it. It was just adding to my already lack in confidence. I researched surgeons for so long but kept putting off actually seeing any of them. I read so many amazing reviews about Jonathan I thought he was a must see. When I first went I was greeted by his lovely PA, she’s very friendly & welcoming and we had a good chat while she walked me to his room. From the moment you meet Jonathan you realise he’s first and foremost a caring person. He genuinely listens and takes in what you’re saying, he wants the best outcome for you and will give you a realistic and honest opinion. No false promises at all. He examined the area and takes all the measurements and photos he needs then will sit down with you to discuss how he can help. There was no rushing in my appointment I felt I could be open and honest with him and I fully respected how honest he was too. After losing my arm I felt such a crash in my confidence but I come to terms quickly that there was nothing I could do about it, but with my bust there was now something I could do and I’d just been putting it off. I’m pleased I did as I’m not sure I would have got the same result and care else where. Leading up to the surgery I had a few wobbles of nerves and was feeling hesitant about it. He was so reassuring with absolutely no pressure at all to go ahead, it was all on my terms. He’s like talking to a friend about your concerns and he’s happy if you’re happy, a rarity in surgeons nowadays. So I booked and went ahead. The day of the operation I was welcomed by Lewis from Chester hospital Nuffield, he’s an absolute delight, he gave me all the information I needed and more and was around if I needed anything. The nurses were some of the nicest you could ever meet, I didn’t feel uninformed for a moment, everything went smoothly and they checked on me to keep me updated and just nice general chitchat, (I talked a lot I was nervous- poor nurses.) I was then seen by Jonathan who came in to draw on me prior to going down. Again he explains everything and makes sure you’re happy to go ahead which I was. I was then seen by the anaesthetist Simon who again was so friendly and reassuring, I felt completely at ease and ready to go. The surgery went well and before you know it I was up and about. I didn’t feel any terrible pain and the nurses are right there making sure you’re comfortable. I was given something to eat and drink and checked on throughout. When I returned home I was contacted by Jonathan throughout the week to check I was ok. I was also called by the lovely Lewis to check on me too. I needed my dressings changed after a week and they’ve healed so well I was amazed. Still very early days but after a week I couldn’t ask for more and absolutely no discomfort at all. My first week has been really good I just stuck with paracetamol as anything else I stopped as it really wasn’t needed. After 3 days of taking them I stopped all together, this shows you how good of a surgeon he is. You wouldn’t think looking at me it’s only been a week I’m just amazed at the results already and it’s still very early days. If you’re looking for someone who’s firstly an expert in his field coupled with the fact he’s extremely approachable, friendly and caring, then this is the surgeon for you. I promise you that you won’t be disappointed and reading all his glowing reviews you can see why. Bite the bullet and do whatever it is that’s either bothering you or you’d just like to change to feel better about yourself, you won’t be disappointed at all. I’ve learned that life is just too short to spend it being unhappy about something, if you can change it then do and this should be your go to. Chester hospital were also an amazing hospital, from the reception staff, surgeon, anaesthetist, to the nurses to the catering staff, everyone was so welcoming and kind, spotlessly clean, nice rooms, beautiful atmosphere and happy staff, says a great deal doesn’t it. I want to thank Jonathan for everything he’s made this one armed lady a lot happier lol and I look forward to seeing the final result at the end of the healing time. 5 star experience from a 5 star surgeon.

I attended numerous consultations at the Grosvenor Nuffield Hospital earlier this year due to limited mobility of my right arm and shoulder together with nerve related pain down my right arm into my hand. The hospital staff were very supportive, clear and caring during all of my visits. I consequently underwent a multi level ACDF to my cervical spine (C3 to C6) in June to address all of the issues found. The Grosvenor Nuffield team did an amazing job taking care of me and making me feel comfortable throughout the entire process and my follow up appointments. The surgery stopped the nerve related pain and saw some mobility improvement almost straight away. My mobility and strength has gradually continued to improve since. I can't thank the Grosvenor Nuffield team enough for what they've done for me and would recommend their expertise and services to anyone!

Staff were amazing but the facilities are starting to look dated and well used, it was a shame i've had to have open surgery as they do not have the facilities for keyhole at this hospital. Care wise and friendliness can't fault them.

I have recently undergone a face and neck lift under the care of Mr Adamthwaite at the Nuffield in Chester . My care has been absolutely superb. I found Mr Adamthwaite to be extremely approachable, easy to talk to and very professional. Having cosmetic surgery has made an enormous difference to my self esteem. The end result has been so subtle, I look like I did ten years ago! Putting your trust in a profession, especially when it comes to your face is such a big step. Looking back on the full experience, I can honestly say there isn’t anything I would change. My pre operative care was comprehensive and thorough, I felt safe at all times. All staff were lovely and my surgeon provided reassurance every step of the way. Post operatively I received several follow up consultations that helped my confidence grow with my new look and was able to have all my questions answered as they arose. I am about to have further cosmetic surgery to my eyes to complete my treatment and I am looking forward to my making the most of my new more youthful look this summer. to conclude it has been an amazing process that has restored self confidence I didn’t know I had lost! When you look in the mirror, and you recognise yourself it’s the best feeling in the world. Well worth the journey, and made very special by Mr Adamthwaite himself !

I have attended the Chester Grosvenor Hospital on two occasions for an MRI scan and X-rays, pre and post-Covid. Both times I have received excellent care from the Radiographers who have always been friendly, reassuring and competent. It is also a bonus that they employ specialist, as opposed to general, Radiologists to interpret the images depending upon your condition. The establishment is clean and welcoming, and self-funding fees are competitive. I have had MRI's at several centres in the past - mainly choosing the lowest fee - but I will be sticking with the Grosvenor Hospital for any such procedures from now on. I cannot comment on inpatient experience, but I would certainly recommend the imaging services.
