I had been suffering from Sciatic pain in my leg for over a year. Mr Arzoglou took the time to explain the cause, showing me the MRI / CT Scans that had been taken. He then very clearly explained what my options were and the impact each of these would have upon me. I was then told to take my time and discuss with my family before committing to any of the options. Having decided to take the option of Spinal Fusion I was admitted to Hull Royal roughly 6 months later. My experience in the hospital itself was generally good, but there were understandably times when due to nursing staff pressures things could have gone better. Prior to the operation I did not meet with Mr Arzoglou again, but did talk through the op with his Registrar who would be assisting with the operation and my future treatment. At all times I was treated with the utmost dignity / respect by all the staff. Immediate post Op care was fantastic. Discharge was probably the least organised part of my treatment. It took time to order the necessary drugs for me to take home. On the negative side, the ward was really noisy. The male / female bays were separate but there was a gap between the screens / ceiling, as a consequence you could hear everything! The ward should consider a curfew as some were watching TV into the very early hours which is not ideal for recovery post op. Post discharge I suffered some unexpected pain. I phoned the ward up the next day and was asked immediately to come back to the day clinic where I met with Mr Arzolglou who immediately agreed and set in motion a further course of drugs to address the complications I was experiencing. There was confusion between the GP and Hospital as to the correct dosage / drug which unfortunately delayed treatment by nearly a week. Two months further on I met with Mr Arzolglou again for a routine follow up. Again he was extremely polite and helpful explaining exactly how the procedure had gone and what the team had done before discharging me. He did however also explain clearly what I needed to do in the future should symptoms return. Thank you Overall I could not have asked for better treatment

The care and consideration I received from Mr Arzoglou and his team were second to none. I had every confidence in his surgical skills and was not disappointed. He explained everything in great detail and was very kind and considerate. I am now feeling the benefits of the surgery and am very grateful for the improvement surgery has given me. He can operate on me any time

Recently had a benign tumour removed from my spine, excellent experience from the first consultation. Risks etc were explained fully and therefore my expectations managed well. Operation went better than expected and grateful to Mr Arzoglou and the whole team, both in theatre and on the wards.
